As she poured the steaming coffee into her boss's favorite mug, Nneoma couldn't help but feel a flutter in her chest. She had been secretly harboring feelings for him for months, and she was determined to make her move.
"Thanks, Nneoma," her boss said with a smile, taking the mug from her. "You always know just what I need to start my day off right."
Nneoma smiled back, her heart racing. "I'm just trying to make your life a little easier, sir," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
As he turned to head back to his office, Nneoma made her move. "Actually, sir, could I have a word with you?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
He turned back, a curious expression on his face. "Of course, what's up?"
Nneoma took a deep breath and stepped closer to him. "I was wondering if maybe we could... discuss something in private?" she asked, her eyes locked on his.
Her boss raised an eyebrow, but a hint of a smile played on his lips. "Okay, sure. Let's talk in my office."
As they walked towards the office, Nneoma's heart pounded in her chest. She knew she was taking a risk, but she couldn't help the way she felt.
Once they were inside, Nneoma closed the door behind them and leaned against it, her eyes locked on her boss. "I just wanted to say... I really enjoy working for you, sir," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Her boss looked at her, a curious expression on his face. "I enjoy having you work for me too, Nneoma," he said. "You're one of my best employees."
Nneoma's heart skipped a beat. "I'm glad to hear that, sir," she said, taking a step closer to him. "I was wondering... maybe we could take our working relationship to the next level?"
Her boss looked at her in surprise, but then a smile spread across his face. "I'd like that," he said, taking a step closer to her.
As they stood there, inches apart, Nneoma knew she had made the right move. She was excited to see where this new development would take them.
