PRE-SEASON TRAINING ON GOOD AGRONOMIC PRACTICES AND CLIMATE-SMART AGRRICULTURE.
In a continued effort to promote sustainable agriculture and enhance farmer productivity, Nalmaco recently conducted a pre-season training for its staff, focusing on critical aspects of agronomy and climate resilience in crop production.
The training featured two expert-led sessions:
1. Good Agronomic Practices (GAP) for Crops and Seed Dressing
Facilitated by Professor Bashir, Nalmaco’s lead agricultural consultant, the session covered vital techniques in seed treatment, soil fertility management, crop protection, and overall agronomic efficiency. The aim was to equip staff with the knowledge required to support farmers in adopting modern, science-based farming methods that improve yields and protect natural resources.
2. Climate-Smart Grain Production and Regenerative Agriculture
Led by Mufid Suleiman from TechnoServe, this session introduced participants to the Strengthening Farmers and SMEs’ Resilience through Climate Smart Grain Production in Nigeria (StreFas) initiative. The training highlighted regenerative agriculture practices, emphasizing soil regeneration, water conservation, and climate adaptation strategies aimed at helping smallholder farmers and agribusinesses thrive despite increasing environmental challenges.
This pre-season training aligns with Nalmaco’s broader mission to empower agricultural communities through knowledge sharing, innovation, and sustainable practices. By investing in the capacity of its staff, Nalmaco continues to position itself as a leader in advancing resilient and productive agricultural systems across Nigeria.
