Quincha (Bahareque) vs tsuchikabe

We don’t begin with a plan.
We begin with listening.

At Lightspace, we sit with the land first—feeling the wind, tracing the light, understanding how nature already moves. Only then do we ask: What can we build here that works with it?

By choosing natural materials in its immediate surroundings, we allow spaces to breathe, to age with grace, and to stay connected to Mother Earth—creating homes that feel alive, grounded, and in harmony with nature.

This is how we design.
Not imposed, but in conversation.

Build with nature, not over it. 🌱

Constructor

Ex*****on of a wall using large-format compressed earth blocks, Tapialblock 40/100/15 by .
Each block, weighing 125 kg, is laid using bonding mortar, ensuring proper load transfer and continuity of the system.
The 40 cm thickness makes it possible to resolve both the exterior courtyard enclosure wall and the walls where the parking doors will be anchored, providing mass, stability, and constructive solidity.
In the case of the exterior wall, since it is built with a continuous vertical joint, connectors are incorporated at each joint to guarantee the bond between blocks and ensure the masonry works as a single unit.

The double-skinned rammed earth enclosure not only adds to the aesthetic appeal but also contributes to sustainability, energy efficiency, and comfort.

An air gap between the inhabited structure and the interior façade facilitates perimeter circulation, guiding visitors through the three floors.

Enclosing a circulation spine, the structure utilizes a double envelope rammed earth façade which extends from the ground floor to the highest level, leveraging the natural insulating properties of local earth to foster healthy environments, ecological sensitivity, and a low carbon footprint.

RAMMED EARTH HOUSE

California, USA 🇺🇸

Architecture&Design:

This project was developed to reveal the natural properties and raw aesthetics of earth as a building material.

100% earth. No additives. No stabilizers.
What was taken directly from the site, from underfoot, became architecture.

The walls are formed through rammed earth construction:
layer by layer, without cement, without lime, without chemical binders.

Clay, sand, gravel — in natural proportions.
The material is not hidden behind finishes, nor justified by decoration.
It speaks for itself.

• Thick, massive walls act as a thermal аккумуляtor:
absorbing heat during the day, releasing it at night.
• Humidity is regulated naturally.
• Temperature is inertial, not mechanical.
• Architecture functions as a system, not as a shell.

There is no artificial “style” here.
There is weight.
There is silence.
There is time.

The texture of the earth records every impact of the ramming — the trace of manual labor, the rhythm of the process, the honesty of construction.

This is a house that does not age.
It returns to the ground slowly, with dignity, without waste. If it disappears, soil remains.

The project was developed by architect Ivan Turyk and the team, and the final renders were refined using AI.

Architecture&Design:

Massive earthen walls are embedded in the natural landscape.

The architecture is designed to merge with its surroundings.
