This is why we pay our workers their legal wages and vacation pays.Their Social Security, and all their legal days off. Most of our workers are farm based. They work a 40 hour work week so they can work on their farms. Its the only way they can keep up with inflation, and hard times, such as those we are feeling today.
Working with understanding clients, who care to contribute to our local communities, through fair trade practices, is very important to Us at Isla Construction.

Wayne Schonell

Wayne was just a youngster in Australia when he discovered his love for surfing. To pay for surf, he worked tirelessly in construction during his summer holidays for his family business. His step-father, the toughest boss and critic, made sure that Wayne received countless life lessons. Expecting nothing less than the highest standards and quality, Wayne learned at an early age that building with quality also builds positive relationships.

Later, Wayne started his vocation school in traditional construction, masonry construction, building, renovating, and remodelling. This sparked a deep interest for sustainable design and environmentally friendly landscaping.

In 2010, surf brought Wayne to Costa Rica, where he met his wife. Together they visited the Emerald Coast in Nicaragua and decided to stay. Building his own house in 2013, was the initiative for what has become Isla Construction S.A.
