Recap: National Onion Day, August 27, 2026, Colijnsplaat 🧅
On Thursday, August 27, 2026, we once again attended the National Onion Day in Colijnsplaat. This annual event brings together growers, traders, service providers, machinery companies, and research institutes to exchange knowledge and experiences. Together, we work towards one shared goal: producing the best possible onion for customers worldwide.
TOP was present in its role as supplier of first-year onion sets. These sets are used to advance the harvest window. When the old onions grown from seed are no longer suitable for export and the new seed-grown onions are not yet mature, onion sets provide the solution. Depending on the variety, the harvest can be advanced by up to six weeks, allowing the Netherlands to serve the market for a longer period of time.
We work exclusively with Hazera to supply high-quality first-year onion set varieties. These varieties excel in earliness, yield, storability, shape, uniformity, and strong rooting.
