The cells of solar panels can only produce direct current (DC) electricity at a voltage that depends on each module’s technical design, location and sunlight conditions.

As alternating current (AC) is the form of electricity businesses and households are supplied with and consume, solar PV systems require Solar Micro-Inverters to convert this DC electricity – generated by the solar panels – into AC electricity.

At the beginning of 2020, Icybay's founding R&D team went to Antarctica and learned from scientists that Thwaites Glacier, the world's largest glacier, has a huge cavity with a diameter of almost 300 meters inside this 1,000-meter-thick glacier. The freshwater is as high as 50 billion tons. According to computer simulations, if the current situation of climate warming is continued, the world's largest glacier will disintegrate within five years.

The same issue is happening all over the world. According to NASA satellite statistics, from 2000 to 2022, the melting rate of Arctic glaciers is getting faster and faster, the average annual melting ice and snow is higher about 31% than 15 years ago, and an average of more than 260 billion tons melt into the sea every year. Alaska, located in the northern hemisphere, is one of the regions most affected by global warming. As global temperatures rise, Alaska's 19,000 glaciers will shrink by 30% to 50% by the end of this century.

To this end, our team founded Icybay, the same name as a fjord in southeastern Alaska that was created about a century ago by Guyot Glacier, Yahtse Glacier, and Tyndall Glacier is formed by the rapid melting and erosion of three glaciers that enter the sea. We hope that people will remember that similar glaciers are melting every day.
