For a long time, there has been little news about general progress in the field of autonomous driving. But at WHILL, things are definitely moving forward. Our autonomous wheelchairs of our autonomous service are now in use at an increasing number of airports around the world. One of the latest partners is Paris-Orly Airport.
To ensure that our autonomous-service works everywhere safely, our mobility devices are equipped with intelligent sensors, automatic braking systems, and other safety features. With this service, WHILL has already enabled hundreds of thousands of ‘autonomous rides’, showing how modern mobility can already work naturally and what it can look like in practice today.

The network now includes, among others, Munich, Copenhagen, Barcelona, and Rome Fiumicino, as well as Detroit, and Winnipeg, plus airports in Japan such as Haneda/Tokyo, Narita, Kansai, and Chubu Centrair. The autonomous service is also already in use at airports in Los Angeles and Miami. Depending on the location, the service is either already operational or still in the pilot phase. For travelers, both options mainly mean one thing: more independence, fewer detours, and a more relaxed journey to the gate.
