“The Invisibility of Things” is a mixed media installation from artist Shai Dautauker ( ). It explores the role that that a few standardised objects have played in defining modern trade, manufacturing and globalisation while remaining unassuming, and omnipresent.
The Europallet has been the go-to means for shipping of goods and produce worldwide for decades, while the Amazon box is a modern standard which rapidly achieved dominance within our daily lives and the shipping industry.
The 3D printer, however, represents a paradigm shift in our thinking about the means of production, creative freedom and accessibility to commerce. This is an object-making-object that can work with instantly shareable digital files, that connects to other printers to create manufacturing farms in any location. It holds profound potential to disrupt our existing supply chains along with the systems of ownership and control that are built around them.
All material supplied by as our rPLA 100% filament, recycled from food packaging and sourced in Benelux region.
We look forward to working with Shai in his next creative pursuit!
