Earlier this year we announced that Avy would be joining the WildDrone consortium and we’ve not been sitting still. All consortium partners got together for the project’s kick-off meeting, WildDrone was introduced at the European Robotics Forum and it was just announced that the consortium will receive 3,7 million euros of funding from the EU, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), and the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI).

This week it’s time for Amsterdam Drone Week! The go-to event to share knowledge on current air solutions, future innovations and vital regulations. Come find us at booth 12.27 and take a look at the Avy Drone Response Network!

Patrique Zaman, our founder and CEO, will be participating in not one, but two panel discussions! The first one is called ‘Autonomous Drone Networks’ with experts from Ericsson, KPN and ANRA Technologies, happening on Wednesday from 14:00 - 15:00. The second panel discussion is ‘Implementing Aerial Services in the Amsterdam Region’ with experts from Gemeente Amsterdam, Provincie Noord-Holland, Antea Group and NLR-Netherlands Aerospace Centre. This is happening on Thursday from 12:30 to 13:30. Both will be at the Cities & Regions Stage.

At the end of last year we had the honour of partnering up with and worked closely with local teams on the ground, and . Our client case explores the logistical challenges of last-mile delivery of lifesaving medical products in the Atacora region of Benin. We dive into how drones can be the possible solution to bridging this gap by proving that the Avy Aera can be up to 56% faster than traditional means of reaching certain communities.

Today is World Earth day! This year’s theme is “Invest in our planet”. People, governments and businesses need to invest in our planet and take active action to protect the environment. Doing this together is the only way to protect our health and future livelihood.

According to a UN report, the escalating climate change will cause an increase in wildfires by 14% in 2030 and by 30% in 2050. Wildfires release large quantities of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and fine particulate matter into the atmosphere. As you may already know, this air pollution contributes to climate change and can be the cause of some serious health issues, like chronic heart and lung diseases.

The Avy Aera is our investment to the planet. Equipped with a thermal camera payload, she helps first responders with early-stage wildfire detection and provides real-time information. This way, the firefighters are able to extinguish the fire at an earlier stage, save valuable nature and limit the air pollution as much as possible.

For Women’s Day, we stand together and call for gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow. This year’s theme, calls for a more gender equal society to create a more sustainable, fairer and diverse culture around the world - regardless of gender (among other factors).

You’ve probably noticed that women and non-binary people are still very under-represented in tech roles. Tech firms on average have 33% overall female representation in their workforces - there’s still some work to do. At Avy we’re at 30% - we’re slowly getting there.

We rounded up some Avyators to show our commitment to empowering women and breaking the bias together to help bridge the gender employment gap. We actively look into making our job postings more diverse, equal and inclusive to attract women in tech.

As stated by Pi, our founder and CEO, “The women within Avy make us more diverse, stronger and more successful. So here's a shoutout to all of them. Because they not only make us more likely to succeed but also open doors for all the other women by changing the world of aviation from the inside by being role models.”
