3D printing a stainless steel bridge with our robots; to appear in Amsterdam in 2017

Traditional subtractive manufacturing often results in extreme material waste, especially when milling complex geometries from massive metal blocks.

Robotic 3D metal printing with Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) offers a far more material-efficient and cost-effective approach. Our technology deposits standard welding wire exactly where needed to create a near-net shape component.

This targeted deposition reduces material waste to an absolute minimum, leaving only a fraction of metal to be removed during final machining. Lower waste means lower costs and a significantly optimized resource impact and time needed for your manufacturing cycle.

The energy sector operates under some of the most extreme conditions on the planet.

When equipment fails, waiting weeks or months for critical replacement parts is simply not an option. With our products and services, we demonstrate how WAAM can be the perfect solution to tackle these strong industry requirements and high standards.

Our Energy Industry page explores specific applications printed with our Metal AM M1 & MX Systems, suitable high-performance materials, and the strict certification processes required for offshore and onshore use to deliver certified components exactly when and where they are needed.

changes the game for low-volume and urgent production.

Our robotic metal 3D printing technology offers distinct advantages over traditional casting when time and efficiency are critical by eliminating the need for expensive molds and patterns and reducing material waste. Moreover, robotic WAAM accelerates lead times from several months to just a few weeks.

For large-scale custom components, highly complex geometries, or urgent replacement parts without existing molds, WAAM provides unmatched manufacturing flexibility. When the cost of industrial downtime is high, WAAM is the definitive solution to keep your supply chain moving.

At MX3D we strongly believe that validating the material is just as important as the printing process itself.

To ensure the highest quality standards for our robotic Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), we have conducted rigorous material testing at the Belgian Welding Institute workshop. Our engineering team regularly prints dedicated test walls to evaluate structural integrity and mechanical performance.

Through detailed tests, conducted with the material provided by Novametal Group, such as, for example, X- ray inspections, impact testing, and tensile testing, we guarantee that our printed alloys meet the strict demands and high quality of heavy industry applications.

MX3D can print parts, in full compliance with the rigorous European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU). This directive guarantees a high level of safety for stationary pressure equipment.

Meeting these strict conformity assessment standards confirms the reliability of our robotic Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) technology for highly critical applications across the EU market.

Companies and sectors such as energy and maritime can fully leverage our Metal AM M1 and MX systems for the certified, on-demand production of pressure-retaining components, ensuring both structural integrity and rapid supply chain deployment.

We are proud to announce the growth of our partnership with as MX3D enters a new phase of international growth.

Scaling our robotic Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) technology globally also requires a strong financial partner who understands the impact of industrial innovation. With the support of the Rabobank team, we can accelerate the commissioning of our Metal AM M1 and MX Systems and the growth of our Print on Demand capabilities.

Already having ING on board since 2025 as a shareholder in MX3D, this significant expansion of the existing collaboration with Rabobank shows a clear expression of faith in the MX3D growth plans from these Dutch banks. This allows Dutch engineering technology to be exported to heavy industry sectors across the globe. We look forward to working together to make MetalXL, the M1, and MX the standard for large-scale metal 3D printing in critical manufacturing.

A huge thanks to the Rabobank team, Jeroen Grasmeyer, and Mathijs Vink, for their visit to our facility and commitment to contribute to WAAM technology expansion and innovation with this partnership.

At MX3D, we design and assemble our Metal AM M1 and MX systems entirely within our Amsterdam facility.

Building these clean and advanced robotic units is a meticulous process that requires precision engineering and strict quality oversight from start to finish. By managing the complete assembly process internally, we ensure that every robotic Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) machine meets our rigorous industrial standards.

This direct oversight allows our engineers to perfectly calibrate the hardware and seamlessly integrate our proprietary MetalXL software to guarantee the highest quality and performance for our clients’ needs and projects.

Take a look at our new printed pressure vessel using our robotic Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing technology (WAAM).

Pressure vessels demand exceptional structural integrity, standards, and material reliability. We enable their production using high-performance alloys like Inconel, Superduplex, and marine-grade 316L Stainless Steel. Moreover, MX3D’s fully certifiable process ensures compliance with global pressure-related standards such as ASME Section IX, DNV, and API specifications.

This project highlights the precision and scalability of our M1 and MX Metal AM Systems, powered by our proprietary software, MetalXL.
