Our team in Europe is wearing something new.

We have swapped the old outfits for a fresh line of workwear: modern, comfortable and made for the way our crews actually work.

Looking sharp is part of it. Comfort and safety matter more. Our people spend their days outside on site, in the wind, the dust and the rain, and their clothing has to keep up with that.

Working on major energy infrastructure means dealing with the elements, and in North-Western Germany, that usually means managing a lot of groundwater.

Our team is currently active on the Wardenburg-to-Drohne (WAD) pipeline route for phases 2 and 3. To prepare the trench for the installation of this new gas pipeline, we have teamed up with Koop Wasserbau GmbH.

We are installing horizontal drainage to temporarily lower the water levels, allowing the excavation work to proceed safely and smoothly.

This 90-kilometer pipeline is a significant project for Germany's grid, especially since the entire line is certified to transport hydrogen in the future.

It is great to combine our specialist drainage knowledge with the dewatering expertise of Koop Wasserbau on this challenging stretch of terrain. Just doing what we do best: preparing the ground for a solid future.

Wicks B.V. is proud to announce the successful completion of a technically challenging project in Indonesia for the East Java Multipurpose Terminal.

A total of 1.7 million linear meters of Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVDs) were installed within the footprint of a future 1.8-kilometer-long breakwater.

The works were executed from a barge in open sea conditions, with water depths ranging from 6 to 14 meters, and PVD installation depths between 6 and 28 meters below the seabed.

Despite these demanding conditions, an installation tolerance of just 15 centimetres was consistently achieved. This level of precision is essential to meet the installation criteria to ensure proper consolidation of the very soft marine clay.

To minimize PVD material losses, a semi-automatic system enabled underwater cutting of the drains just above the seabed.

Wicks B.V. developed a specialized marine installation method, combining modified PVD installation equipment with a barge specifically adapted for the project.

Specialized measurement techniques were implemented to provide real-time installation data. The operation relied heavily on RTK positioning, integrated with the powerful inhouse VOSS survey software.

Together, these elements provided a reliable and innovative marine ingenuity solution.

Working around the clock, seven days a week, a dedicated team successfully delivered the project ahead of schedule, driven by strong collaboration and excellent teamwork.

What a day!

On Friday, June 5th, we swapped our machines and office routines for our annual team outing at Posta7 in Tolbert, and it was a great success.

Team spirit was high from the very start, with plenty of fun and fierce competition during the challenges, followed by great food, drinks, and lots of laughter.

It was great to relax, catch up, and spend time together outside the daily work routine.

We truly have an amazing team to be proud of.

On April 17th our team gathered in Weids Bolsward for a dedicated QHSE meeting. Because before we can build a solid foundation for our projects, we need to ensure a safe foundation for our people.

During this session, we put safety front and center. A key part of the afternoon was participating in the interactive “Speak up for Safety” program by our parent company, Van Oord.

At Wicks, safety is not just a checklist; it determines how we work every single day. Meetings like this are crucial to emphasize this mindset among our team and to make sure everyone feels empowered to speak up.

The Maashaven in Rotterdam is currently being transformed to create a brand new park for the city. But before any trees can be planted or paths can be laid, a solid foundation is essential. That’s where Wicks comes in.

Operating directly from a pontoon on the water, our team is currently installing approximately 70,000 meters of vertical drainage. This crucial step accelerates the consolidation of the soil, ensuring a stable and safe surface for the future park. 💧⚓

We are proud to contribute to this major urban development as a partner to Van den Herik, on behalf of the Municipality of Rotterdam. It is a great example of precision engineering and strong teamwork coming together. 🤝
