What does 3% less PVC pipe overweight mean in practice?

Take a PVC pipe plant producing 10,000 tonnes per year, with material costs of, let’s say, €1,100 per tonne.

At 6% average overweight, €660,000 worth of extra material goes into the pipe each year.

Reducing that overweight to 3% would save approximately 300 tonnes of material, or €330,000 annually.
