EESTEC LC Delft

EESTEC LC Delft EESTEC LC Delft is a Local Committee of the EESTEC organisation. This page is intended for members of LC Delft and other EESTEC members who are interested.

As stated on the EESTEC.net website:

Electrical Engineering Students’ European Association is an apolitical, non-governmental and non-profit organization which targets and trains through it’s activities students from electrical profile Universities, Institutes and Technical Schools in Europe. The association was founded in The Netherlands, in 1986. Nowadays, EESTEC is present in 28 countries and

53 universities across Europe with over 6000 members of whom 3000 are currently active, and indirectly, EESTEC is addressing all students in the faculties that EESTEC exists. EESTEC’s main goal is to promote, establish and develop international contacts and an exchange of ideas between students in electrical profile faculties. The activity of this organization relies on the skills, enthusiasm, openness and will of involvement of its members, also pursuing their professional development , the improvement of their technical knowledge and reaching their full potential. Moreover, students from all over Europe meet and respect their differences and their cultures and this empowered variety results in a friendly international environment and creates awareness for a common European identity. Our vision lies in uniting electrical engineering and computer science students all over Europe in order to reach their full potential in academic and social life. Mission of EESTEC:

We are a network of Local Committees spread in the universities all over Europe

We are the connecting link between universities and industry

We organize academic and leisure events

We dedicate our time, energy and experience to do volunteer activities

We support and promote technical performance

We promote diversity among European cultures

We encourage personal development strategies and aim at reaching high technical and soft skills

We build alliances with organizations and institutions with similar missions and vision

We make future leaders

We promote team spirit and team work

We provide education complementary to that offered in universities to students willing to broaden their horizons and put their skills into practice. EESTEC wishes to facilitate the communication between the academic and the economic environment. We offer the students a handful of opportunities to build their desired career. We promote students that have technical knowledge as well as knowledge that will make them suited for today’s demands. In this way we also address companies easing their contact with young men and women with various skills, ready to integrate in the environment they will be active in as future specialists. By combining the EESTEC Spirit with the general profile of an EESTECer, we can present our values like this:

We are a non-political, non-profitable, voluntary based, non-governmental European organisation by/for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science students. Our main focus is students. That’s why, our main mission is to develop the quality of our members and help them through their career path both in academical and industrial aspects. We try to achieve this by helping them further their education throughout the university with our technical events and by helping them get in touch with industry with our industry based events

We emphasize cultural diversity and encourage our members to get to know and respect other cultures existing in Europe. An EESTECer who has the EESTEC spirit is:

Innovative and energetic

Enthusiastic, dynamic and positive and always looking for new challenges

Ambitious and always looking for new ways to improve him/herself

Self-motivated

Friendly, helpful and ready to work as a part of a team

Passionate about his/her work and enjoys what s/he is doing

Works hard and parties harder

Consequently:

We are students,

We are young,

We are passionate,

And we are ready to develop ourselves in our field as well as serving the multicultural structure and common identity of Europe…We are EESTEC !

About two weeks ago guys from Aachen visited Delft. We went around the city and had a couple of beers, including a Delft beer: Koperen Kat 015. We discovered Aachen is really close to the Dutch border so we'll surely visit them in the future!

Around a month ago now, some people from EESTEC LC Zurich came on a small trip to Delft. And since I had nothing to do that day but study I figured I could give a small sightseeing tour through the city centre. After seeing all important historical, and student-life related, buildings I had to go back to studying, but the next day we were to meet again. This time in Leiden at a party organized by the ETV and Code. I don’t recall much of our conversations that evening, but I do remember I had a fun time and would like to see everyone again some time soon!
Cheers, Thomas Pouwels

Three weeks ago 16 participants arrived from different parts of Europe, e.g. Croatia, Germany, Serbia and Greece. The workshop was on creating a virtual escape room using Arduino programming, with an official Arduino Trainer.

Next to this we also had some traditional Dutch games, a pub Crawl together with BEST and of course International Night!

Monday the event took of officially. With a city rally, our participants discovered Delft on their own. In the evening, after a nice meal at an open dinner table, the students tested their dutch skills with ´koekhappen´, ´zaklopen´ and of course ´sjoelen´. Also the TIE challenge took of which made everyone suspicious as soon as they came too close.

The other days were planned for the workshop. What we saw was europeans electrical engineering at it's best. Problems were solved, ideas were created and above all, escaperooms were built.

In the nice breaks with broodje Leo or a cold beer in the center of Delft. People made friends and learnt to know eachother. Friendships for life have been created.

EESTEC has proved again to be effective in bringing together people, ideas and creativity. Making the world ready for the future by supporting the engineers of tomorrow.

Another IMW visited by LC Delft members, this time we went by car to visit LC Zurich for Takashi's castle, IMW of Women in Engineering. We had the famous Tramparty, a pool in the mountains (no it was not that warm), fun games and more parties! It was an unforgettable weekend in the mountains as you can see in the pictures :D Will you join for the next event?

Four weeks ago we flew with 11 members to Krakow to enjoy the IMW (International Motivational Weekend) of Spring Congress. For most of us it was good experience to meet our friends again from across Europe. For others, it was the first time to encounter EESTEC Spirit:

For me, it was my first EESTEC event and I was looking to meet some old friends from the last event I organized last year (UnTIEing the Future). I did not know what to expect from a congress IMW but I have heard some stories that it is one of the best experiences you can have of EESTEC. They say that high expectations often result in big disappointments, but that was far from the point! Meeting and having fun with so many EESTEC'ers was unimaginable.

This event, I've realized that there is so much more to EESTEC than just partying, workshops or traveling. It's also about making really good friends and creating memories that will last forever. I will keep myself updated for upcoming events since I've gotten addicted to EESTEC! Will you join me?

Hey everyone!

LC Delft has been busy last week: we had a hackathon and a training.

On Monday participants of the Hackathon were challenged to build something creative with the SHABadge2017. There were only two hours but a lot of them came up with some creative games. The jury is still intensively discussing who won the challenge, results will be announced soon…

On Tuesday we deepened our knowledge on Soft Skills: How to successfully manage your time. There were 9 awesome participants who received some tips and tricks on how to get the best out of this small amount of time we have on this planet. Handouts will be sent as soon as possible… If you are interested in receiving one as well, let the trainers Dalia or Conchita know!

It has been a while since Delft opened it’s doors to Europe’s finest students. It seems like we had some trouble to get out of the shadow. Like we have been locked up. Fortunately we have found our way to escape which means that a new event will be organized. Now it will be up to you to create your way out. In ‘A TIEght escape’ you’ll get some tools and information that will help you to create your own puzzles and ‘locks’. We will do this by giving you trainings in Arduino programming. In the end we shall see if you're able to create a room where no one can escape from.

Furthermore you’ll get to see The Netherlands. Land of cows and flowers, of cheese and clogs. You’ll discover this beautiful part of the world with several activities. And not just ordinary activities. No we’re talking city rallies, drinks and of course the international night that can’t be missed.

There’s of course only one possible reaction to this. Right! Apply! Take the chance to visit the city where it all began. The EESTEC origins flow through this beautiful city and EESTEC LC Delft is honored to receive you in the beautiful faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science.
