It turns out award signs can be recycled too.

When Van ’t Hek Groep was announced as the winner of Best Large Company at the 2026 Business Awards North Holland (OVNH), Boon Edam Nederland Managing Director Dirk Aldenzee jokingly suggested at the ceremony that, rather than making a new sign, they could simply collect the one displayed outside our headquarters in Edam.

But what started as a light-hearted suggestion soon became a plan. A few weeks later, a Van ’t Hek truck arrived in Edam to collect the sign and give it a new home in Zuidoostbeemster.

A simple, sustainable gesture and a nice example of the strong connections between companies in North Holland.

Congratulations once again to Van ’t Hek Groep on a well-deserved win.

Good conversations often start around the lunch table. 🥪

Last week, colleagues at our headquarters in Edam joined students from the Sport Studies programme at Inholland University of Applied Sciences for an interactive workshop on healthy nutrition and everyday wellbeing.

What made the session valuable was how practical and open it felt. From healthier snack choices and workplace habits to small routines that support energy throughout the day, the discussions focused on realistic changes people can actually maintain.

There was plenty of participation, thoughtful questions and shared experiences across teams — a reminder that wellbeing is something we build together, one everyday habit at a time.

As Monique Koning, Group EHS Officer, reflected:

“In the end, everyone walked out of the canteen just a little more aware than before.”
