Recently, our team at Boon Edam USA welcomed students from the Bob Barker Engineering Camp for a behind-the-scenes look at engineering in practice.

Together with Campbell University, we gave students the opportunity to tour our manufacturing facility, meet our R&D team and discover how different engineering disciplines come together to solve real-world challenges.

We're proud of our long-standing partnership with Campbell University, which includes student projects, internships, advisory roles and initiatives like this. By opening our doors to future engineers, we're helping create opportunities that benefit both students and our industry.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the visit a success. 💚

This month, we welcomed six colleagues from our newly appointed distribution partners in Estonia to our headquarters in Edam for three days of technical and commercial training.

By spending time together, sharing knowledge and building relationships, we helped create a strong foundation for supporting customers in the Estonian market. Combining our global expertise with our partners' local knowledge helps us deliver the best outcomes for customers.

And of course, it wasn't all work. We also made time for a visit to Volendam and the chance to experience a little Dutch culture together. 📸😄

Modernising security without compromising the building

Every building has its own story - and every modernisation project comes with its own challenges.

At the headquarters of De Goudse Verzekeringen, replacing an ageing access control system wasn't simply about installing new technology. Underfloor heating beneath the entrance meant conventional floor anchoring wasn't possible.

Rather than altering the existing building, the solution was designed to work with it. A purpose-built raised floor provided a secure foundation for the new entrance while protecting the heating system below.

The result is a modern access solution that supports secure, intuitive movement for employees and visitors, while giving the facilities team a reliable, maintainable installation designed for the future.

Projects like this demonstrate that modernising an entrance is about more than replacing equipment. It's an opportunity to strengthen a building's security ecosystem while respecting the infrastructure that already exists.

Bringing together local market knowledge and global expertise is how we build lasting partnerships with our customers.

Last week, our new Sales Manager for China, Winnie Wu, visited our headquarters in Edam to connect with colleagues from across the business, deepen her understanding of our products and services, and experience the heritage that continues to shape Boon Edam today.

With nearly 30 years of experience in China's building materials sector, Winnie brings deep expertise in project sales, long-term service development and building lasting customer relationships. Combined with the knowledge and support of our global organisation, that experience will help us continue strengthening relationships with customers across China.

Welcome to the Boon Edam family, Winnie. We look forward to everything we'll achieve together.

High throughput means little if comfort is compromised. Speed alone doesn't define performance.

Neither does width.
Neither does compliance.

An effective entrance responds to changing demand without creating congestion or uncertainty. It supports security, protects energy and helps people move naturally through the building.

Performance isn't just measured in numbers. It's experienced by people.

Better movement creates better buildings.

See what our Rhythm Analysis checklist can reveal about movement throughout your building.

Infrastructure security is no longer just about keeping people out. It's about helping critical spaces operate safely, intelligently and with resilience.

This recent article from Construction Week India explores how organisations across the sector are responding to that shift—from integrated command centres and AI-enabled monitoring to intelligent access management and security by design.

We're pleased to see our colleagues at Boon Edam India contributing to this important industry discussion. As Capt Edwin Saldanha, Managing Director of Boon Edam India, explains:

"India's infrastructure story is no longer defined solely by expansion; it is increasingly defined by resilience. The challenge is no longer simply controlling access. It is about understanding and managing movement across critical spaces in real time."

It's a perspective that reflects a broader shift across the built environment, where security, operations and movement are becoming increasingly connected to support more resilient infrastructure.

Nearby transport hubs and surrounding buildings can dramatically impact people movement.

If external patterns weren’t considered, your entrance may struggle at certain times of day.

It turns out award signs can be recycled too.

When Van ’t Hek Groep was announced as the winner of Best Large Company at the 2026 Business Awards North Holland (OVNH), Boon Edam Nederland Managing Director Dirk Aldenzee jokingly suggested at the ceremony that, rather than making a new sign, they could simply collect the one displayed outside our headquarters in Edam.

But what started as a light-hearted suggestion soon became a plan. A few weeks later, a Van ’t Hek truck arrived in Edam to collect the sign and give it a new home in Zuidoostbeemster.

A simple, sustainable gesture and a nice example of the strong connections between companies in North Holland.

Congratulations once again to Van ’t Hek Groep on a well-deserved win.

Most capacity calculations assume ideal conditions. But buildings don’t operate in ideal conditions.

People arrive together.
They carry bags and equipment.
Weather slows movement.
Cultural behaviour influences spacing and pace.

All of this affects real throughput. If real-world behaviour wasn’t factored into your entrance design, performance may already be under pressure.

Capacity isn’t just a number. It’s a reflection of how people actually move.

Is your entrance designed for theory - or reality? Evaluate your real-world performance. Access our Rhythm Analysis Checklist. 👉 https://bit.ly/4uBpo19
