Studio Joris de Groot is a product design and research studio, founded in 2013 by Joris de Groot.

Joris de Groot is a designer searching for the tension between craftsmanship and industry in his work. Interested in collaborating with the industry, Joris creates his own workshop within the factory grounds. Once familiar with the process of the existing techniques, he experiments with the available machinery and materials for new innovative uses. Over the years Joris has worked with various manu

facturers, which has given him a valuable knowledge in the field of production techniques and materials, and uses this knowledge to develop new products in the context of innovation and sustainability for a broad range of clients.

Introducing our Welded Loop backpack!

During the process, we focused on combining multiple functions within the bag. Comfort is integrated into the construction through 3D-printed comfort components, while color and pattern are developed directly within the knitted canvas. 💖 The bag allows the volume to shift from compact to expanded, enabling multiple configurations within one design. 🛠️

We are excited to present the 2000N Pressed Shoe collection as part of the exhibition by at Microlab! As one of the selected designers collaborating with the Shoe Lab, we are showcasing the 2000N Pressed Shoe during Dutch Design Week. The soles, inspired by various types of car tires, were crafted during the artist-in-residence program at the Schoenenkwartier. Come and discover the final product, along with the process behind this unique collection at Microlab Hall, Strijp S.
