Introducing Omni Pro 12 - Axion's new automated, multi-plate, live-cell analysis platform.

“The Omni Pro 12 increases the throughput without increasing the complexity of experimental setup or data analysis. The instrument is designed to operate inside a cell culture incubator, ensuring health and viability of even the most sensitive cell types, while integrated and user-friendly software enables the analysis of complex biological data in real-time,” according to Jan-Willem Van Bree, Axion’s VP of R&D - Image Analysis Systems, describing how the combination of a fully automated microplate storage and handling set-up with an Omni cell imager offers new possibilities for live-cell analysis.

In this study, the authors investigated intracellular anti-microbial responses resulting from senescence in epithelial cells. The Lux mini live-cell imager was used to observe proliferation in HeLa with induced senescence. The results suggest that pathogen loads are not solely responsible for infection-associated morbidity in aging cells, but it is also a result of reduced ability to resolve damage after infection.
