Together with Flanders Make, we contributed to a recent Mikroniek publication presenting joint research on neural-network-based model predictive control for fast mechatronic systems.

This research shows that NN-MPC can retain nearly the full performance of classical MPC while reducing computation time from milliseconds to microseconds. That reduction makes advanced control viable for highly dynamic applications where MPC is normally impractical.

The approach was validated on a high-speed parallel SCARA robot, both in simulation and on real hardware. Results show comparable trajectory accuracy and control performance, with speed-ups of up to a factor 5,000 during experimental deployment.

This work was carried out in the framework of Flanders Make’s SBO projects DIRAC_SBO and LearnOpTra_SBO, funded by Flanders Make, and the Vlaams AI Onderzoeksprogramma / Flanders AI Research Program, funded by the Flemish Government.

Our colleague Jeroen Willems contributed alongside Edward Kikken, Maxime Monsieur, Andrea Giusti, Branimir Mrak and Bruno Depraetere.

🤖 𝟮𝟰-𝗛𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲: 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲

Recently, we had the opportunity to sponsor a 24-hour challenge. Eight student teams spent 24 hours coding mobile robots with ball-launching devices to overcome challenging obstacles and shoot balls into buckets.

Not only did we get the chance to meet these talented students and share more about Nobleo, we also had the privilege of supporting them as expert engineers throughout the event.

The challenge organisers created an impressive setup, with creative challenges and “power-ups” such as the Nobleo Nervefreeze, Nozzlewobble and Tornado, designed to test the teams under pressure.

This is exactly what F1-style engineering looks like: high pressure, time-constrained, and a setting where innovation thrives when the clock is your biggest competitor. Watching these students collaborate, problem-solve and deliver working solutions within just 24 hours was genuinely inspiring.

A sincere thank you to Ruben Beumer and his team, as well as Professor René van de Molengraft, for hosting an engaging challenge and giving students the opportunity to experience an environment where time is never on your side.

Events like this help shape the next generation of engineers. We were happy to contribute and be part of the challenge!

𝗥𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀

In three months and within a fixed budget, a complex mechatronic concept was developed into a working demo.

From the outset, the focus was on the core challenge: comparing and ranking concepts, defining RPCs and quickly validating manufacturability through 3D-printed variants. This created clarity and momentum in the design process.

From custom-milled parts and actuator selection to control software and system integration. Each step contributed to a coherent, functioning whole, without letting speed override engineering discipline.

Read the article to see how a structured fast-line approach turns high-tech ideas into demonstrable results within a short timeframe.

Last Friday we celebrated the end of the year the way it should be done: Together! Glitter & glamour set the tone for an evening in our new additional building at the Generaal Bothastraat.

Our Nobleans and their partners came together for a festive evening with good music, tasty bites, dance and a little friendly competition at the casino tables. Roulette, blackjack and poker kept the (fake) fiches moving.

Of course, every good party comes with our own Nobleo band. They set the room on fire with great music and topped the evening off!

Thank you to all Nobleans for everything you have brought to the past year. And heartfelt thanks to Inge for organising an evening that felt warm and truly ours.

Watch the video for an impression of the evening!

𝗪𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁...

This summer we opened an additional location in Eindhoven! A space that increases our capacity to build, test and develop with our growing engineering team and expanding client base.

The extra 1,800 square metres provide room for advanced setups, multidisciplinary project teams, dedicated work areas and the continued growth of our activities. It further strengthens our ability to take on ambitious assignments and support clients with complex engineering challenges.

The new location also offers a vibrant setting for training sessions, deep-dive workshops and team gatherings. And as an extra bonus: there is even a stage for our very own Nobleo Band.

We look forward to everything this new space will enable in the months ahead!

Another milestone within the AIRTuB project: the first driving test of Nobleo’s crawler platform on a wind turbine blade.

Following the successful flight test in June, this phase in July focused on how the crawler performs while moving across the curved surface of the blade. The system collected valuable data on traction, stability, and odometry accuracy, helping us refine the design for future fully autonomous inspections.

This work brings us closer to a system where drone and crawler operate together. Flying, landing, and driving to inspect turbine blades safely and efficiently.

Thanks to Terra Inspectioneering B.V., NLR - Netherlands Aerospace Centre, Avular and World Class Maintenance for their collaboration and expertise.

𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗰𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗼: 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗰 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲

When you're a start-up heading toward clinical trials with life-saving medical technology, speed and expertise aren't just advantages, they're essential.

For CardiacBooster, the partnership with Nobleo Explorers became exactly that: a collaboration that delivered world-class engineering skills with the urgency and adaptability a fast-moving medical device company demanded. "Within a couple of days of the request, we had a full team from Nobleo on site," recalls Adam Whitford, Technical Programme Manager at CardiacBooster. "They immediately understood what was needed."

Initially, CardiacBooster contacted Nobleo for support in developing a graphical user interface for their test machines. However, as the company further developed, they encountered a critical skills gap. "We needed expertise to accelerate the design and development of a custom PCBA design and for software development on that platform. The limited in-house disciplines to accelerate the development, namely software and electronic disciplines, threatened to slow down our ambitious timeline.”

Nobleo contributed to CardiacBooster’s device by developing several critical components. Read the full story of our work here: https://nobleo-technology.nl/engineering-in-cardiac-care/

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿…

Last week we had our last quarterly meeting of the year and we were honoured with a highly appreciated visit.

Sinterklaas and his Pieten found their way to Nobleo! What a party! Thirty-three Noblean kids danced, sang, ate pepernoten and of course received a small gift.

In our quarterly meeting our new Nobleans gave a short introductory presentation, we talked about our latest news, upcoming events, new clients and some insights into exciting new projects we are working on (stay tuned!).

We ended the official part with a goodbye to our highly appreciated colleague Charles who will start to enjoy his retirement. For that we even pulled out a marching band!

To keep the fun & energy flowing we ended the meeting with a game of midget golf right there in the building.

𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗼: 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵❤️🩹

This November our Nobleans were not only engineering, they were also growing…a moustache!

Led by colleague Stan de Rijk we participated in Movember, the global initiative that raises awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s mental health.

Alongside growing some impressive moustaches (we could not catch them all in the group photo) colleagues also took on additional challenges. Some ran 60 km as part of the Move for Movember initiative and others cycled a trucker-moustache-shaped route through Eindhoven. Throughout the month meditation workshops led bij John Sarbach supported wellbeing and balance.

Whether through sport, mindfulness or style the goal was the same: to spark conversations on men’s health and increase awareness. We enjoyed the activities and appreciated the meaningful moments that naturally arose when people asked about the moustaches.

If you are not yet familiar with Movember we encourage you to take a look at https://nl.movember.com/.
