Our dealer Euromat Exp in Algeria has recently completed a state-of-the-art broiler breeder project in the province of Oran. The compact site layout makes optimal use of the available space, resulting in shorter daily inspection times. The project consists of four broiler breeder houses, each with a capacity of 8,000 animals, bringing the total to 32,000 birds.

All houses are equipped with three Chainovation chain feeding circuits for hens, along with two side lines of the Matrix male feeding systems from VDL Agrotech. The feeding systems are perfectly synchronized to ensure a calm and efficient feeding process. Chainovation, developed in close cooperation with breeding associations, distributes feed at variable speeds up to 3,000 kg/h, providing near simultaneous access to the entire flock. Matrix offers males more comfort, equal portions and side by side feeding, reducing stress for both males and females.

As of Monday, Dragan Jankovic (56) has joined VDL Agrotech and will succeed Kevin Michellys (41), who has left VDL, as Managing Director effective February 1, 2026.

Dragan is no stranger to VDL Agrotech: between 2008 and 2021 he held various positions within the organisation. Since 2021, he has served as Managing Director at VDL Rotech. His succession in Romania is currently being arranged.

We warmly welcome Dragan back to VDL Agrotech and wish him every success and enjoyment in his new role. We also thank Kevin for his years of dedication.

When 1-day old chicks are placed in the broiler house, they should find feed and water as soon as possible. Broilers need to learn where to find the feed. Many feed pans are designed to reduce spillage, but are not made for day-olds to get easy access to feed from day 1. That’s why VDL introduced the Flow Slider to the Valenta pan feeder for broilers. With the Flow Slider, the farm manager can use central mechanism to flood pans with extra fresh feed. Broilers now have easy access to feed, and the farmer does not have to place additional feed trays for the first days.

After the flooded feed is consumed, birds start to eat from the pan. The VDL Valenta has the lowest entrance hight, when placed in the litter material. This makes it easy for the chicks to access feed. The grill-less design of the pan ensures that no birds get stuck when they grow.

Our dealer, Baarlink Agrarsysteme, has completed two 80 × 25 m broiler breeder houses in Germany. The compact site is used efficiently, which shortens daily inspection times. The project is now in operation. Both houses include two rows of Premium+ laying nests (VDL Jansen), eight Chainovation chain feeding circuits for hens, and Matrix male feeding systems from VDL Agrotech (two side lines and one center line). Chainovation, developed with breeding associations, distributes feed at variable speeds up to 3,000 kg/h, giving birds near‑simultaneous access and a calm start. The Premium+ nest has been refined for more than 35 years in close collaboration with breeding companies and offers a quiet, sheltered laying area with exceptionally high nest acceptance.
