We've just delivered the LUV 2208 to Blueshell Mussels, a family-run mussel harvesting business in Scotland. Thanks to our stock-building programme, the vessel was ready to go almost immediately after signing the contract.

Now named Bountiful, she'll be supporting the team's operations in the waters around Shetland. It's great to see a vessel find such a fitting home and such a fitting name! We wish the Blueshell Mussels team every success with their new vessel and their operations in the waters off northern Scotland.

With the evolution of the Damen Combi Freighter (CF) series, access to an optimally efficient cargo vessel aligned with your operational needs just became even easier.

By extending the hull of the proven CF 5000, we have created the new CF 6000 and CF 7000, with added cargo capacity. Like the CF 5000, the latest CF vessels are available in both ice and non-ice class versions.

All three vessels feature the high quality you would expect from a Damen cargo vessel. Constructed at experienced Damen and partner yards in Asia, with aftersales support from the Netherlands, the Combi Freighters are vessels you can count on.

The vessels offer the flexibility that is the signature of the series. This includes multiple cargo options and the opportunity to increase sustainability with a wide range of solutions such as hybrid or alternative energy configurations and wind-assisted propulsion. Aligned with EU MRV, FuelEU Maritime, and IMO regulations, the vessels are ready for a cleaner, greener future.

Meet Marloes Nanninga, Development Engineer and Parametric Designer in our Offshore & Specials team. Armed with an Aerospace Engineering degree from TU Delft, she found her match in maritime. Working across the full vessel lifecycle, from hull optimisation to sea trials. One week Berlin, the next Vietnam.

She's contributed to the green Combi Freighter 3850, integrating mechanical sails into the propulsion system, a tangible step towards greener shipping. And she is researching ways to automate ship design through parametric modelling.

As ships become increasingly complex, we’re meeting the challenge head-on with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing. By connecting a vessel’s hardware in a simulated environment in an early design phase, we prepare ourselves for what’s to come.

HIL enables us to test everything safely, and repeatedly before we begin installing. As a result, we are able to optimise systems in advance of commissioning, ensuring efficient construction of a vessel that meets expectations from the outset. HIL testing is a key component in our mission to build our vessels for efficient, sustainable operation.

Having used HIL testing successfully in our shipbuilding projects, we are now prepairing the solution for training crew in the optimised operation of our vessels.

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻

In April, Le Commandant Charcot arrived at Damen Shiprepair Brest for her five-year survey and upgrade. Ponant's 150-metre polar expedition cruise vessel is built for some of the most demanding environments on Earth. She is capable of breaking ice up to 2.5 metres thick and hosting up to 270 passengers in the high latitudes of the Arctic and Antarctic.

Getting a vessel like this back to peak condition requires more than just technical know-how. Our team carried out hull blasting and painting, applying a specialist Inerta ice-belt coating beneath the waterline. We completed a full overhaul of her azipod thrusters, polished her ice-strengthened propellers, and serviced her bow thrusters. Safety systems such as lifeboats and the helicopter lifting platform also received thorough attention. We also serviced her stabilisers and LNG propulsion system, keeping her comfortable and efficient for the voyage ahead.

On 30 April, Le Commandant Charcot left Brest, bunkered LNG in port, and set sail for Reykjavik, ready for her next Arctic expedition. A project we're genuinely proud to have been part of.

𝗘𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽.

Last February, we welcomed the Dan Swift back to Damen Shiprepair Curaçao, a familiar vessel and a long‑standing partner. Managed by Casco Offshore and supporting ExxonMobil Guyana, reliability is key. During this visit, our teams completed one of the most extensive scopes on the vessel to date: the overhaul and replacement of all eight thruster units.

This complex DP project required close coordination across the yard, with OEM specialists working alongside our teams delivered safely, efficiently and to class.

The project also strengthens our long‑term collaboration with Casco Offshore, including joint investment in dedicated blocks for future campaigns.

We are pleased to announce the expansion of our Combi Freighter (CF) portfolio with the official launch of the CF 6000 and CF 7000.

The new designs represent the direct evolution of the proven CF 5000. Both are available in ice and non-ice class versions. They feature the same modular versatility, high levels of efficiency, and access to a range of sustainable solutions.
