Easy and Safe Handling of Large-Format Sleeve Cylinders
Since the introduction of offset sleeve technology by DG press in 2003, one principle has always been central: make repeat changes as easy and efficient as possible.

From the very beginning, the objectives were clear:
• Stepless variable repeats for offset printing
• Low-cost repeat solutions
• Lightweight sleeves for easy manual handling

For early press formats, this philosophy worked perfectly. On a 520 mm press with repeat lengths up to 762 mm (30”), even the largest sleeves weighed just 24 kg, safely manageable by a single operator, without lifting aids.

But presses evolved. And sleeves grew with them.
With wider machines and longer repeat lengths, such as the VSOP 1250 and today’s DG-AUXO series, sleeve cylinders have become heavier and larger.
On presses handling web widths up to 1085 mm and print lengths up to 1016 mm (40”), manual sleeve handling is no longer feasible. To protect both operators and sleeves, DG press developed dedicated handling solutions.

Large-format sleeves require smart handling.
Our ProArm & ProTrolley systems are engineered for large-format sleeves and:
• Absorb the full sleeve weight
• Enable safe, precise and effortless sleeve exchange
• Hold four sleeves (two complete sleeve pairs)
• Optimize logistics between press, service station and sleeve storage
• Are fully mobile, keeping the press area clear and accessible

The result?
• Safer operation
• Faster changeovers
• Better workflow
• No compromise on press accessibility

At DG press, we engineer solutions to make your operator’s work lighter!

DG-AUXO Pharma Series up to B1 format
The DG-AUXO pharma web offset series is designed to lower cost per leaflet without compromising quality. Pharmaceutical leaflets are printed on very thin paper with small fonts and tight tolerances.

Being the third generation of hybrid web offset presses, the DG-AUXO series addresses the challenges to keep quality stable while increasing output, driving the costs per leaflet to a minimum.

B1 size pharma leaflets > DG-AUXO 1085 40”
The DG-AUXO 1085 is available in two format ranges and cut-off lengths, from 16” to 30” (406,4 to 762 mm) and from 24,8” to 40” (630 to 1016 mm), The last one includes the B1 sheet segment in both paper fibre directions. Running from a reel DG-AUXO delivers either sheets or rewound reels, enabling the most economical route for folding and packing.

DG-AUXO key USPs and ROI levers
• Sleeve cylinder web offset enables variable print sizes
• Reduced tooling constraints. Supporting efficient short-to-medium runs.
• High productivity. Web offset speed is 2 to 3 times higher versus sheetfed
• Short changeover times. Auto pre-setting of cylinders and rollers
• Flexibility of reel-to-sheet and reel-to-reel delivery
• In line web slitting and trimming on reel-to-sheet and reel-to-reel
• Free choice of paper fibre direction for folding, due to 1085x1016 print size
• Integration of 100% inline inspection systems
• Ergonomic design. Sleeves handling with Sleeve Trolley or Pro Arm System
• Versatile inline concept. Easy future press configuration changes

Throughput impact of a DG-AUXO 1085 vs B1 sheet-fed
Sheet-fed presses are commonly specified in sheets/hour, while web offset is specified in meters/minute. On, for example, 40 gsm leaflet stock, sustainable sheet-fed speeds are often below rated, which increases cost per leaflet.
• Typical sustained sheetfed output for pharma leaflets is around 12,000 sheets/hour, which is roughly 203 m/min for 40”sheets or 132 m/min for 26” sheets.
• DG-AUXO can run up to 400 m/min, providing a 2.5 to 3 times higher output than B1 sheet-fed presses.
• Even at 300 m/min, output is typically still 1.5 to 2 times higher, supporting more jobs per shift.

With a higher sustained throughput and short-makeready the DG-AUXO 1085 provides lower cost per leaflet and improves capacity utilisation especially on multi-language B1 formats and frequent job changes.

DG press’ complete portfolio for pharma leaflets
DG press provides two web offset platforms for pharmaceutical leaflets. The DG-Vision, for 520 and 670 mm web width, based on cassette technology, and the DG-AUXO, for 520, 900 and 1085 mm web width, with servo drives and sleeve-cylinder technology, engineered for fast changeovers and stable output at speed.

𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲𝐬 𝐠𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬.

Our Sales Manager Richard Boden, responsible for among others the African market, is no stranger to frequent travel across the continent. But his most recent trip to Africa was one to remember.

Together with his wife and one of his daughters, Richard took on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. A journey that demands determination, perseverance and real teamwork, both mentally and physically.
We’re proud of Richard for achieving this remarkable milestone together with his family. A great reminder that, whether in business or beyond, strong dedication and team spirit make all the difference.

Well done, Richard! A truly impressive achievement.

DG press sets a new benchmark in large-format pharmaceutical leaflet printing. with the new DG-AUXO 1085 40”. A max web width of 1085 (42,7“)and a print length of 1016 mm (40”) enables the DG-AUXO of printing B1 format pharma leaflets independent of paper fibre direction.

In pharmaceutical leaflet production, folding quality is critical. Thin, low grammage papers combined with high fold counts place extreme demands on fibre behaviour. Especially in complex layouts, folding in both fibre directions is unavoidable.

This is exactly where the DG-AUXO 1085 makes the difference. The DG-AUXO 1085 40” enables an optimised folding sequence, and critical early folds, or multiple folds, that can be aligned with the grain direction, while less critical final folds can be positioned across the grain.

The DG-AUXO 1085 40” enables smart imposition strategies to optimise fold sequences, balancing internal stresses in the paper, resulting in higher folding reliability and compact, high-quality final folded formats while maintaining high-output, and quality print.

Energy Efficiency in Printing
High energy prices accelerate the need for smarter solutions within industrial processes. The printing industry is no exception. The energy crisis of 2022 is still fresh in our memories. Today, after four years of relative price stability, energy prices have once again risen to extreme levels.

In the meantime, the printing industry has seen many initiatives aimed at reducing energy consumption and developing more sustainable ways of energy generation. But there's more that can be done.

Within the printing sector, ink-drying capacity accounts for a significant share of overall energy consumption. In the field of energy curing of inks, LED-UV technology has made a significant leap forward in both output performance and energy efficiency. Replacing older mercury UV systems with modern LED-UV systems can significantly improve the energy efficiency of your presses, typically by more than 50%!

At DG press, we can assist you with our experience and advice in the strategic decision to replace older UV curing with new LED UV systems. We can also offer a turn-key integration project of a new LED-UV system on an existing press. This often requires mechanical modifications and electrical integrations. With our extensive experience, we can offer solutions for various LED-UV systems on a variety of web offset presses.

DG press’s extensive expertise and in-depth technological know-how make our Service+ organisation a true all-rounder.

In addition to delivering new and pre-owned web offset presses and refurbishing existing machines, we also relocate presses from one customer or facility to another. We carry out these relocations not only for our own press models, such as the VSOP and Vision, but also for web offset presses from other manufacturers like Muller Martini.

A further advantage is that our teams can combine the relocation with a comprehensive inspection of the press’s technical condition, followed by a proposal for the replacement or refurbishment of worn or critical components.

If the type of printed products changes, or if increased productivity is required, our sales and engineering teams can prepare and quote for upgrades and modifications to be implemented during the relocation process.

Recently, one of our teams completed the relocation of the first of two VSOP 850 variable sleeve offset presses. The relocation of the second press is now also nearing completion. A satisfied customer and happy faces from the DG press team, Rob and Aart, pictured in front of the relocated VSOP 850.

The team from DG press is grateful to our customers for their confidence, and we highly appreciate their compliments, as once again is reflected in this testimonial from Mr. Miroslaw Prokop at Euro Print, one of our valued customers.

Maintaining operational efficiency
We must take care of the operational efficiency of machines and equipment, without which modern man can hardly function in today’s world.

To do so, the efficiency of the VSOP 850 web printing press installed in our company last year is not looked after solely by our employees who operate it on a daily basis. We also rely on the service support of DG press from the Netherlands. The colleagues from DG press installed the machine at our site in July 2025, commissioned it, and continue to assist us in resolving issues that arise during operation.

When required, we receive remote helpdesk support covering mechanical and electrical matters, with the possibility of remote monitoring of individual machine components. But for some issues, their field service engineers and our crew need to meet in person at the machine that has refused to cooperate via the internet.

Rapid service effort
Such a situation occurred last week. A request for assistance was made, and DG press reacted swiftly. Within 24 hours, service engineer Silas van der Meulen landed at the nearest airport and, early in the afternoon, he was already at the machine. By the evening, the machine had yielded to Silas’s efforts. Together with our colleagues, he explored its mechanical and electrical recesses, revealed the cause of its stoppage, and started running again.

In-house or Outsource
The above story reflects a broader issue. Should every company have its own specialized organizational unit responsible for the technical supervision of machinery and equipment?

Maybe, but smaller companies cannot afford this, as maintaining in-house technical specialists is costly. Even large plants face the question: where can one find “good” specialists with the right qualifications and skills? Specialist knowledge, for example, in printing machinery, requires not only appropriate education but also acquired experience with specific types of equipment and technologies.

For this reason, many companies do not maintain their own mechanical and electronic departments but instead use an external service provider, like DG press. Outsourcing, making use of highly specialized external services, relieves the company’s day-to-day operations and allows it to focus on its core tasks: production. This is how we run our operations as well. Fortunately, we have in our printing company a hands-on and skilled crew that is capable of dealing with many of the smaller issues.

Fast response
For all, the response time matters not only in a printing house. It matters both for our customers and for the printing house itself, which, during a machine breakdown, does not print and therefore does not earn.

Fortunately, since last year, we have two roll-to-roll offset printing presses using electron beam technology. This does not change the fact that service response time always matters.

DG press was also in a situation where its specialists were engaged with other customers, yet within 24 hours they sent Silas to assist us, because they understand what the standard of “service” truly means!

DG-Vision 30 Years young
A history of innovative printing technology and continuous improvement.

In May 2026, it will be 30 years since the first Vision was presented to the public during an Open House at Drent Graphic Machines in Hall, The Netherlands, which is still the location of DG press ServiceS, the successor of Drent Graphic Machines.
At the time, in 1996, the Vision was the first shaftless web offset press in its segment to be fully driven by servo controls.

The decentralized servo drives allowed a fully modular press design, removing imperial/metric constraints and enabling non-standard formats. Each module could operate independently, simplifying setup, cleaning, and maintenance. This eliminated traditional line-shaft issues, improving print quality, colour register accuracy, and reducing doubling.

Continuous Improvement
Over the past 30 years, the DG-Vision model range has seen numerous major and minor updates. Printing speed has increased from 250 m/min to 400 m/min, and a model line for web widths up to 670 mm has been added. The current electronics and software are up to date and in accordance with the latest industry standards. And have further boosted accuracy, stability, reliability, and durability, extending the press’s productive lifespan.

Installed Base Up and Running
Nearly all the 192 Vision presses that have been built are still in use, with some having changed owners or locations and been upgraded or reconfigured to meet market demands. The modular design provides significant flexibility, supported worldwide by DG press’s experienced service and engineering team. This full technical support adds value, driving strong demand for DG-Vision presses on the second-hand market, often replacing unsupported press models from other manufacturers.

State of the Art
After 30 years, the Vision continues to stand out as a state-of-the-art Hybrid Web Offset Press, still thriving in key markets such as security printing, pharmaceutical printing, and commercial & continuous forms printing.

The slogan from the first Vision Open House in May 1996 remains just as relevant today:
“A printer with Vision has the future!”

Many software programs and applications are becoming increasingly large and sophisticated, requiring more computing power and memory.
For this reason, DG Press also needs to replace outdated laptops with more powerful models from time to time.
However, these laptops are often still in excellent condition and perfectly suitable for home use.
Last week, on behalf of DG Press, Wim Schieven handed over a number of these laptops to the employer services organisation WerkFit Brummen.
Chantal Derksen, Account Manager at WerkFit Brummen, received the laptops.
Together with her colleagues, she will ensure that the laptops are made available to people on a limited budget who cannot easily afford a laptop, but who would greatly benefit from having one at their disposal.
It is great that, with this, we can contribute to the community.
We wish the new owners every success!
