Voor deze Time Travel Thursday reizen we terug naar een periode die veel betekende voor AAE. Een periode van verandering, groei en de grootste uitbreiding tot dan toe.

In 2016 telt AAE 190 medewerkers. Het is ook het jaar waarin we afscheid moeten nemen van onze toenmalige directeur-eigenaar, William Pijnenburg. Een ingrijpend moment voor de hele organisatie.

Na zijn overlijden wordt Frank Mulders benoemd tot CEO. Samen met de familie Pijnenburg zet hij de koers van AAE voort. Een koers die ons mede heeft gebracht tot waar we vandaag staan.

Die ambitie krijgt vorm in een belangrijke mijlpaal: de overname van een tweede locatie aan het Varenschut, op een steenworp afstand van ons pand aan Grasbeemd 2. Daarmee groeit onze productiecapaciteit aanzienlijk.

In 2019 openen we de deuren van deze nieuwe locatie tijdens een grote familiedag. Ook wordt de cleanroom in omvang verdubbeld en groeit het aantal AAEโ€™ers naar maar liefst 350 medewerkers.

Een periode waarin โ€˜Pushing Technical Boundariesโ€™ opnieuw extra betekenis krijgt.

For this Time Travel Thursday, we travel back to a period that meant a great deal to AAE. A period of change, growth, and the largest expansion up to that point.

In 2016, AAE had 190 employees. It was also the year in which we had to say goodbye to our then owner and managing director, William Pijnenburg. A defining moment for the entire organization.

Following his passing, Frank Mulders was appointed CEO. Together with the Pijnenburg family, he continued AAEโ€™s course. A course that helped bring us to where we are today.

That ambition took shape in an important milestone: the acquisition of a second location at Varenschut, just a stoneโ€™s throw from our building at Grasbeemd 2. This significantly increased our production capacity.

In 2019, we opened the doors of this new location during a large family day. At the same time, the cleanroom doubled in size and the number of AAE employees grew to no fewer than 350.

A period in which โ€˜Pushing Technical Boundariesโ€™ gained even greater meaning.

Als onderdeel van ons Expeditie Fit-programma stond bij AAE opnieuw de jaarlijkse Bike to Work Day op de agenda. En wat was het wederom een succes!

Maar liefst 161 collegaโ€™s stapten op de fiets en begonnen zo sportief aan de dag. Samen werd er in totaal 950 kilometer (enkele reis) gefietst, met een gemiddelde afstand van 5,9 kilometer per persoon. Daarbij werkte het heerlijke weer natuurlijk perfect mee.

Om iedereen letterlijk en figuurlijk in het zonnetje te zetten werden alle fietsers bij aankomst verrast met een overheerlijke smoothie en een leuke verrassing. Een mooie beloning voor hun gezonde en duurzame keuze. ๐Ÿน

Kortom: een geslaagde editie van de Bike to Work Day waar we met een goed gevoel op terugkijken! ๐Ÿ’š

As part of our Expeditie Fit program, AAE once again organized its annual Bike to Work Day. Once again, it was a great success!

No fewer than 161 colleagues got on their bikes and started the day in an active and sporty way. Together, they cycled a total of 950 kilometers (one-way trips), with an average distance of 5.9 kilometers per person. The beautiful weather certainly made the experience even better.

To put everyone in the spotlight, both literally and figuratively, all cyclists were welcomed with a delicious smoothie and a fun surprise upon arrival. A well-deserved reward for choosing a healthy and sustainable way to travel. ๐Ÿน

All in all, it was another successful edition of Bike to Work Day that we look back on with great enthusiasm! ๐Ÿ’š

After months of hard work, continuous improvement, and strong collaboration, once again made an impression on the global stage of the FIRST Robotics Competition. By securing an impressive second place in their division, Team Rembrandts achieved one of the best results in the teamโ€™s history.

Gisteren verwelkomden we bij AAE een groep eerstejaarsstudenten van het Summa College. Door middel van een presentatie en rondleiding kregen toekomstige onderwijsassistenten een kijkje achter de schermen bij ons om te zien hoe techniek er in de praktijk uitziet.

Maar daar bleef het niet bij!

Na afloop gingen de studenten zelf actief aan de slag met techniekactiviteiten en lesmateriaal dat speciaal ontwikkeld is voor kinderen in het basisonderwijs. Zo konden zij direct ervaren hoe je techniek op een speelse en toegankelijke manier inzet in de klas. Daarmee hebben ze ook inspiratie opgedaan voor hun techniek project, waarbij ze een speciale techniekmiddag gaan organiseren.

Mooi om op deze manier onderwijs en techniek samen te brengen en toekomstige onderwijsprofessionals te laten ontdekken hoe je kinderen enthousiast maakt voor techniek. ๐Ÿฆพ

Yesterday, we welcomed a group of first-year students from Summa College at AAE. Through a presentation and guided tour, these future teaching assistants got a behind-the-scenes look at our company and discovered what technology looks like in practice.

But that was not all!

Afterwards, the students actively took part in technology activities and explored educational materials specially developed for primary school children. This allowed them to experience firsthand how technology can be introduced in a fun and accessible way in the classroom. It also gave them inspiration for their own technology project, in which they will organize a special technology afternoon for children.

It is great to bring education and technology together in this way and help future education professionals discover how to inspire children to become enthusiastic about technology. ๐Ÿฆพ

Per 1 juli treedt Manon Pijnenburg aan als CEO van de AAE Group. Daarmee bouwt Manon voort op het sterke fundament dat is gelegd door haar vader en voormalig DGA William Pijnenburg.

Manon volgt Frank Mulders op, die actief blijft als Managing Director van AAE Europa (Helmond) en daarnaast de rol van Vice President Global Operations binnen het Executive Team op zich neemt.

Daarnaast introduceren wij een Global Executive Team en Executive Board om verder te bouwen aan รฉรฉn sterke internationale AAE Group. De Executive Board bestaat uit Leon Verweijen (CFO, benoemd per 1 januari 2026) en Kurt Wils (CxO).

Met de benoeming van Manon Pijnenburg als CEO starten wij een nieuwe fase binnen ons familiebedrijf, waarin continuรฏteit, internationale groei en toekomstgerichtheid centraal staan.

As of July 1, Manon Pijnenburg will assume the role of CEO of the AAE Group. In doing so, Manon will build on the strong foundation laid by her father and former Managing Director and majority shareholder, William Pijnenburg.

Manon succeeds Frank Mulders, who will remain active as Managing Director of AAE Europe (Helmond) while also taking on the role of Vice President Global Operations within the Executive Team.

In addition, we are introducing a Global Executive Team and Executive Board to further strengthen one international AAE Group. The Executive Board consists of Leon Verweijen (CFO, appointed as of January 1, 2026) and Kurt Wils (CxO).

With the appointment of Manon Pijnenburg as CEO, we are entering a new phase within our family business, focused on continuity, international growth, and a forward-looking vision.

Onlangs is AAE gestart met deelname aan het buddyprogramma van en . Dit programma is bedoeld voor internationale studenten binnen Fontys Technology. Met dit initiatief wil Fontys samen met bedrijven studenten ondersteunen die het lastig vinden om een informeel professioneel netwerk op te bouwen in Nederland.

Vanuit AAE is onze collega Anand een buddy van Ivan. Ivan heeft Oekraรฏense roots en studeert momenteel Toegepaste Wiskunde aan Fontys. Via het buddyprogramma wil Ivan meer leren over de Nederlandse (werk)cultuur, zodat hij in de toekomst makkelijker een baan kan vinden en zich kan vestigen in Nederland. Ivan zegt hierover het volgende:

โ€œDe gesprekken met Anand helpen mij echt om de (werk)cultuur in Nederland beter te begrijpen. Ik hoop dat ik dankzij deze ervaringen later een plek zal vinden die bij mij past. Het liefst iets waarbij ik met veel data kan werken om interne (logistieke) processen te helpen verbeteren.โ€

Recently, AAE has started participating in the buddy program of Fontys and Fontys Technology. This program is designed for international students within Fontys Technology. Through this initiative, Fontys, together with companies, aims to support students who find it challenging to build an informal professional network in the Netherlands.

From AAE, our colleague Anand is a buddy to Ivan. Ivan has roots in Ukraine and is currently studying Applied Mathematics at Fontys. Through the buddy program, Ivan wants to learn more about Dutch (work) culture, so that he can more easily find a job and settle in the Netherlands in the future. Ivan says the following about this:

โ€œThe conversations with Anand really help me gain a better understanding of the (work) culture in the Netherlands. I hope that, thanks to these experiences, I will later find a place that suits me. Ideally, something where I can work with a lot of data to help improve internal (logistical) processes.โ€
