*Introducing our project: Adaptable Library-based Pipeline for Accelerated Creation of Antibodies aka A.L.P.A.C.A.!*

🔬 The Potential:
Nanobodies are powerful tools for detecting diseases, studying biological processes, and developing new medications.

🚫 The Problem:
Traditional methods involve injecting animals like alpacas, which is unpleasant for the animals, slow, and costly. This inefficiency keeps the full potential of nanobodies out of reach.

💡 Our Solution:
A.L.P.A.C.A. aims to solve this by using genetically engineered yeast to select nanobodies from a vast pool of variations. This approach skips the need for animal involvement, making the process quicker, cheaper, and more humane.

🌍 The Impact:
Our system could revolutionize the use of nanobodies in both research and clinical settings, paving the way for innovative therapies for conditions like parasitic infections and personalized cancer treatments.

One month ago our iGEM team went to Paris for the Grand Jamboree and it was amazing! Meeting all the different teams from all around the world, socializing and hearing about their projects was very inspiring. Ultimately we've become the second best overgrad team as we won the First Runner-Up prize! In addition to this we've also won the best biomanufacturing project, best wiki, and best entrepreneurship prizes, gold and three more nominations. Special thanks to iGEM, Leiden University, our PI's, supervisors, sponsors, donors and all who helped make this amazing journey possible!
