Our vision
Internet of Things (IoT) is an important and promising development for our future society and associated economy. IoT stands for (temporarily) connecting devices with the internet to exchange data without human intervention. (measurements, analyzes, detection). Examples of this are smart thermometers, refrigerators, sports clothing with sensors etc. Several leading parties indicate that by the end of 2020 there were more than 20 billion devices worldwide - from small to large - are connected to the internet with each other to communicate. Those developments are going at a fast pace, both in the field of hardware and software. These developments give rise to many valuable and innovative opportunities.
Through the Dutch IoT Challenge, high school students and MBO, HBO and WO students are challenged to think of innovative applications in the field of IoT in various themes. The business community is cooperating intensively with the Keyport 2020 area: Keyport, The Innovation Playground, Continium and the Spark Tech Lab. In addition, various educational and government institutions from Limburg.
The vision of the Dutch IoT Challenge is to create a platform where students and companies together will create and realize innovative applications in the field of IoT to solve individual as well as sector-related challenges (or at least make them easier to tackle). During the process, the focus will not only be the end product but also the development of 21st Century Skills of the participating students.
