NRF at Baja Poland 2026: Technical Support in Extreme Conditions

NRF returns to Baja Poland, one of Europe’s leading off-road motorsport events, where 194 competitors from 13 countries are tackling demanding stages around Szczecin and Drawsko Pomorskie. The event brings together cars, trucks, motorcycles, quads, and SSV vehicles, as well as leading competitors from the FIA European Baja Cup and teams with extensive Dakar Rally experience.

For many teams, Baja Poland is a key test ahead of the Dakar Rally. Its extreme conditions provide valuable insights into the performance of NRF cooling systems and critical engine components.

This year, we have an extra reason to follow the action closely: both FESH FESH and KAMENA teams are competing with NRF components and solutions in their vehicles. Our tech team is alongside them on-site, ready to help and eager to see how they perform on every stage.
Our involvement goes beyond traditional sponsorship. It is built on technical collaboration, knowledge sharing, and product validation under demanding operating conditions. TURBO TUESDAY – NRF Turbo Professor Series
Episode 7: EGR Valve

The EGR valve may look like a relatively small component, but it has a major influence on the operation of the entire engine, especially in turbocharged vehicles.

Its task is to precisely control the amount of exhaust gas redirected into the combustion chamber. This helps reduce nitrogen oxide emissions, supports smoother engine operation and improves overall efficiency.

In modern engines, the EGR valve works closely with the turbocharging and intake systems. Its operation affects not only emissions, but also airflow, boost pressure, throttle response and engine performance.

When the valve works correctly, airflow remains stable, boost pressure builds as expected and the engine delivers its full power. Problems begin when the EGR valve becomes dirty, starts sticking or remains open when it should be closed.

Too much exhaust gas can then enter the intake, reducing the amount of fresh air available to the engine. As a result, the turbocharger may struggle to build the correct pressure, causing loss of power, smoke, slow throttle response and uneven engine operation.

A faulty EGR valve can also disturb airflow and place additional load on the turbocharger. The turbo works harder to compensate, generates more heat and may suffer accelerated wear.
In Episode 7, our turbo specialist Przemysław explains why EGR valve diagnostics should be an essential part of any major intake-system or turbocharger repair, particularly in high-mileage or mainly city-driven vehicles.
