Today marked the final day of yet another inspiring week 24! 🌱

World Horti Center has been buzzing all week, with hundreds of visitors from more than 40 countries. They let themselves be inspired by the strength of the Dutch horticulture industry, discovered the impact of controlled environment agriculture and learned more about urgent topics like water, energy and robotics. 🤩

We wrapped of this week with some final guided tours:

👉 Hans Ligtenberg guided a group of young farmers from the Republic of Korea, they were eager to learn more about smart farming. 🇰🇷

👉 Lenny Dijkshoorn welcomed new members of the LVVN Attaché Netwerk and introduced them to the Dutch horticulture sector with a brief presentation. The session was joined by Mirjam Boekestijn and Frederik Vossenaar (Dutch Greenhouse Delta), Ivo Meijer (Gemeente Westland) and our CEO Puck van Holsteijn.

👉 Piet Smal afterwards took them on a tour through our knowledge and innovation center.🌿

One of the highlights we look back on with a smile this week was a special lunch with Sung Kyeom Kim, CEO of World Horti Center Korea, and his delegation. Puck van Holsteijn and Lenny Dijkshoorn welcomed the group for lunch in one of the beautiful grape greenhouses of the Westlands Museum. A unique setting to strengthen international connections and exchange innovative ideas. 🍇🤝

𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 & 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 | 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟰

Another busy day at World Horti Center! We once again welcomed international visitors from around the world. 🌍

A delegation from Yonam College, led by President Geun Yeol Yoon, visited our campus to learn more about the Dutch horticultural ecosystem. During the tour, guided by Tricia Tang van der Borg Tang, CEO Puck van Holsteijn joined the group to exchange ideas and welcome the delegation. 🇰🇷

We also hosted a delegation from China, organised by Dutch Greenhouse Delta. 🇨🇳 Vice Mayor Chen Weisong of the Weifang Municipal People's Government and his delegation visited World Horti Center to gain insights into the Dutch approach to horticulture. Gert Dral (Dutch Greenhouse Delta), Ivo Meijer r(Gemeente Westland) and Lenny Dijkshoorn (World Horti Center) joined the visit.

Another Korean delegation 🇰🇷, introduced by Sung Kyeom Kim, CEO of World Horti Center Korea, visited from Jeollanam-do Province. The group is exploring opportunities to develop a horticulture and AI-focused campus in their region and came to learn from the World Horti Center concept and ecosystem.

Throughout the day, our HortiXperts Piet Smal, Tricia Tang and Hans Ligtenberg guided several international groups through our innovation center, including a large delegation from the United States and a combined group of visitors from Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Oman. 🌍

At GreenTech, visitors may have spotted a familiar face: the "twin sister" of Cassie, the AI assistant from our Robotics & AI theme square, was showcased at the RoboCrops stand, sharing her vision of the autonomous greenhouse. 🤖

These past days, Peter Geelen and Jan O. Voogt have been introducing visitors to the Plant Empowerment Academy books 📚, helping growers unlock the natural strengths of plants for more effective cultivation. You can buy these books year round in our shop as well.

While GreenTech has now come to an end, FlowerTrials continues for one more day! Tomorrow is your final opportunity to visit 58 locations across the Netherlands and Germany, including our partner Vertify, where visitors can discover the assortment of Floritec. 🌸

𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 & 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 | 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟯

While GreenTech continued in Amsterdam and FlowerTrials welcomed visitors across the Netherlands, World Horti Center once again hosted international guests eager to discover the latest developments in horticulture. Let's look back on day 3! 👏

🤩 Today, we were honoured to welcome H.E. Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change & Environment of the United Arab Emirates, and her delegation. 🇦🇪 The delegation was also joined by representatives of The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Together with Ivo Meijer (Gemeente Westland), Giovanni Angiolini (Dutch Greenhouse Delta) and our CEO Puck van Holsteijn, discussions focused on the strength of the Dutch horticulture sector and the triple helix approach, World Horti Center is a great example of the latter. The delegation was particularly interested in innovative solutions regarding water (re)use. 💧 During their tour they also got to see vertical farming solutions, including a visit to the Fischer Farms Ltd container on our parking lot, here John Meijer shared insights into the technology and its applications.

🤩 Throughout the day, our tour guides Tricia Tang van der Borg, Miranda van den Ende and Piet Smal took visitors from Korea and China on vibrant tours. During these tours, guests discovered innovation hotspots such as the HortiHeroes Startup Wall and learned more about medicinal cannabis at the Cultivation for Compounds theme square.

🤩 Not only our tour guides gave tours today. World Horti Center also served as a meeting place for partners welcoming their own international visitors. Among them was Paul van Gils of Lumiforte, who hosted a Spanish delegation at our innovation center.

🤩 Meanwhile, Lenny and Mario were present at GreenTech, where they met with international visitors and Dutch horticultural businesses to strengthen existing relationships and explore new opportunities.

🤩 In the afternoon Sung Kyeom Kim, CEO of World Horti Center Korea 🇰🇷, took the stage at the NL Pavilion. Here he presented the Sangju Smart Farm Innovation Valley and shared the latest developments of World Horti Center Korea with an international audience.

Another day full of international collaboration, innovation and valuable connections. On to day 4! 🚀

The exhibitions are officially underway! 🔥 With GreenTech opening its doors in Amsterdam and FlowerTrials welcoming visitors across the Netherlands, day 2 was filled with international meetings, new connections and valuable conversations. 🌍

Meanwhile, World Horti Center continued to welcome visitors from around the globe. Today, our tour guides Piet Smal and Hans Ligtenberg hosted groups from Pakistan and the USA, offering them a closer look at the latest developments and innovations in Dutch horticulture. 🌿

Our colleagues Puck van Holsteijn, Lenny Dijkshoorn and Mario Nederpelt spent the day at GreenTech, where they connected with partners and international delegations.

🌱 At the NL Lounge (stand 01.261), coordinated by AVAG and carried out in cooperation with Ministerie van Landbouw, Visserij, Voedselzekerheid en Natuur, Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO), Gemeente Westland, Dutch Greenhouse Delta, World Horti Center and GreenTech, a Worldwide Delegations Networking Lunch was hosted. Bringing together international visitors and Dutch horticultural businesses;
🌱 Here discussions also continued on opportunities for cooperation in Brazil with Carlos Goulart, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, and Inge Horstmeier of the Netherlands Agricultural Network;
🌱 Later on Puck, Lenny and Mario facilitated introductions between Korean business representatives and Dutch partners, including Royal Brinkman, Biobest Group and Koppert, strengthening international collaboration opportunities;
🌱 The day concluded with a dinner together with Sung Kyeom Kim, CEO of World Horti Center Korea, a great way to end the first day of GreenTech.

It's week 24, which means the Netherlands is once again welcoming horticulture professionals from around the world. With GreenTech and FlowerTrials kicking off tomorrow, World Horti Center was already buzzing with activity today. Here's a look back at an inspiring start to the week. 🤩

👉 Throughout the day, our tour guides Hans Ligtenberg, Miranda van den Ende, Piet Smal and Tricia Tang van der Borg Tang welcomed several international groups from Japan, Mauritius, the Gulf Region and Egypt. During their guided tours, visitors discovered the latest innovations in horticulture through our theme squares, including WaterWise and I-Grow.
👉 This afternoon, the annual Medical Cannabis Event, organised together with MCPIR, visited World Horti Center following a morning programme at Delphy. Mexx Holweg of Dutch Lighting Innovations shared the latest insights into cannabis photobiology, LED technology and pharmaceutical compounds in cannabis.
👉 We were also honoured to welcome Abdullah Hamad Al-Attiya, Qatar's Minister of Municipality. Together with Ivo Meijer (Gemeente Westland), Mirjam Boekestijn (Dutch Greenhouse Delta) and our CEO Puck van Holsteijn, discussions focused on the success of Dutch horticulture, the value of international collaboration and the World Horti Center campus model.
👉 Later on, the launch of the Global Alliance of Horticulture Regions took place in our Rabotorium. Before the official launch several panel discussions took place. In one of these talks moderator Wesley Toelen spoke with Puck, Mirjam and Ivo about the importance of collaboration in horticulture, Puck's advice: start small. Following the programme, the Governor of Kochi (Japan) and Mayor Bouke Arends signed the alliance's first membership agreement.
👉 Meanwhile, we welcomed a follow-up visit from an Uzbek delegation. Nurali Abdullaev of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan met with Daria van der Heijden, Lenny Dijkshoorn and Puck to discuss the next steps in the development of Uzbekistan's horticulture sector.
👉 The day concluded with the Welcome Walking Dinner, where more than 300 international guests and Dutch organisations came together to network and connect in an informal setting. The dinner was coordinated by AVAG | Greenhouse Technology Center and carried out in cooperation with Ministerie van Landbouw, Visserij, Voedselzekerheid en Natuur, Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO), Gemeente Westland, Dutch Greenhouse Delta, World Horti Center and GreenTech.

We zijn trots om 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 te mogen aankondigen als nieuwe partner van World Horti Center. 🎉 De samenwerking werd onlangs officieel bekrachtigd door, namens Freshwater, CEO Aad van der Starre, en namens World Horti Center CEO Puck van Holsteijn en accountmanager Will Zuiderwijk. Het partnerschap van Freshwater behelst onder meer een eigen Identity Stand op onze begane grond. Bezoekers uit alle delen van de wereld kunnen zodoende kennismaken met de unieke ionisatietechniek van Freshwater, waarmee kwekers hun waterkwaliteit significant kunnen verbeteren. 💧

𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁

Vandaag vond de eerste editie van Flora Campus Connect plaats. Het evenement, georganiseerd door Gemeente Westland op de toekomstige Flora Campus Westland en in World Horti Center, bracht zo’n 60 ondernemers, onderzoekers, onderwijsinstellingen en overheden samen. Zij gingen met elkaar in gesprek over hoe Flora Campus Westland kan bijdragen aan een innovatieve, gezonde en toekomstbestendige tuinbouwsector. 🌱

Rond de thema’s HortiTech en HortiHealth werd gesproken over de kansen die technologie, kennisontwikkeling en samenwerking bieden voor de sector. Onder leiding van Frénk van der Linden ontstonden inspirerende gesprekken met bijdragen van onder anderen Carlo van de Weijer en een panel met Esther de Snoo, Jacob Seidell, René Buck en wethouder Anko Goudswaard.

Ook onze CEO Puck van Holsteijn leverde een bijdrage. Zij benadrukte dat World Horti Center het kloppend hart vormt van Flora Campus Westland. Hier is al een start gemaakt met de campus in het klein en wordt er dagelijks gebouwd aan het ecosysteem. Ondernemers, studenten, onderzoekers en overheden komen hier samen om kennis te delen, inspiratie op te doen en innovaties in de tuinbouw te versnellen. Dit gaan we komende jaren in gezamenlijkheid verder ontwikkelen tot Flora Campus Westland. 💪

Volg een gratis rondleiding en ontdek hoe ondernemers, onderwijs, onderzoek en overheid hier samen werken aan innovatieve sector. Tijdens de rondleiding leer je meer over thema’s als water, indoor farming en energie, maar ook de samenwerking met Vertify en MBO | Westland komt voorbij.

Op 21 mei tekenden we samen met De Haagse Hogeschool een meerjarige samenwerkingsovereenkomst. Door onze krachten te bundelen werken we samen aan urgente maatschappelijke uitdagingen, waaronder duurzame voedselproductie, energietransitie, gezonde voeding en digitalisering binnen de tuinbouwsector. 🍅🌱

𝐕𝐚𝐧 𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐚𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭
De samenwerking krijgt concreet vorm binnen het World Horti Center-ecosysteem, waar onderwijs, onderzoek, bedrijfsleven en overheid samenkomen. Studenten, onderzoekers en professionals werken er in living labs, onderzoeksprojecten en challenge-based onderwijs aan concrete oplossingen met regionale én internationale impact. 🌍
