April 3, there was a forest burn brought under control quite quickly by Dutch fire fighters. As a season of exceptional drought it is sign warned throughout the Gemeente Ede to watch out with 'fire'.. (fun fact: I drove by that particular time in Ede when the burn started).. ..hence, this very moment there was a defense exercise just a click from the point where I was driving ands something went possibly wrong with a piece of ordnance.
So, here the aftermath, brought to you by pure European innovation spearheaded by BlackShore. In 3 variants (optical, false color vegetation and some experimentation) you can observe the burnscar at a resolution of 30 centimeters with a length of about 1500 meters.
If you look close, you can still see the firefighters suppressing the fire, and I can tell you where most water has been used (and I can tell you where it is risky).
A surprising positive is that the tall vegetation ( ) all survived, but the heath has been scorched away.. doesn't have to be bad for as some experts already say..
It was an 'oopsie' by the Ministerie van Defensie, but the Brandweer Nederland did an amazing job, taking control so quickly in a dangerous situation. Second, in addition, we could create these images and we can use it to learn and evaluate using satellite imagery.
