Most people think supplemental lighting is used to make plants grow faster.
But for chrysanthemums, growers often use light for the exact opposite reason: to prevent flowering.

As a classic short-day crop, chrysanthemum needs long, uninterrupted nights to initiate blooms.
A brief period of light during the night can be enough to convince the plant that the night wasn't long enough.

The plant stays vegetative. The grower gains valuable time to:
• increase plant size
• improve uniformity
• schedule flowering dates
• meet holiday and retail demand

Sometimes the most important role of greenhouse lighting isn't producing flowers.
