With our construction support vessel BOKA Falcon - one of the strongest in the world, along with its sister vessel BOKA Fulmar - Boskalis worked in the Polish Baltic Sea for nearly a year. The BOKA Falcon dug the trench for the future export and array cables installation using two different teams and also cleared the planned cable route of any boulders.

With a bollard pull of over 400 tons, the BOKA Falcon first did this with the T-Rex plough and, in recent months, with the Megalodon plough. Both ploughs were deployed for both the inter-array cable route in ร˜rstedโ€™s future 1.5 MW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm and the more than 260-kilometer export cable scope for four cables from the offshore substations to the Polish coast. A cable corridor of more than 400 kilometers. That is as long as a straight line between the northernmost and southernmost points of the Danish mainland.

However, the BOKA Falconโ€™s heavy-duty work was just the beginning of the major Baltica 2 project that Boskalis will be carrying out. With our cable-laying vessels BOKA Ocean and Ndurance, Boskalis will return to the Baltic Sea to install the inter-array cables (BOKA Ocean) and the export cables (Ndurance).

We would like to thank the crew of the BOKA Falcon and the project team for their dedication during this project, and we thank ร˜rsted for the pleasant collaboration so far and looking forward to the next stage in the development of the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm.

When a vessel gets into distress, it usually happens offshore, so damage to a historic building on land is not the first thing that comes to mind. In the case of the grounding of the 80-meter-long Defiant, however, things were different. During a storm, the tank barge ran aground on a reef adjacent to the centuries-old Castillo San Felipe del Morro fort in Puerto Rico.

A salvage team from our American Salvage Marine Fire Fighting (SMFF) provider Donjon-Smit, which was joined by our colleagues from SMIT Salvage in the Netherlands, was mobilized to remove the oil from the Defiant and refloat the vessel. Despite its hard-to-reach location, the team succeeded within a few days, preventing large-scale environmental pollution from an oil spill.

We thank the salvage team for their efforts in Puerto Rico.

Boskalis has mobilized an impressive dredging spread to Harwich Haven in the United Kingdom. The trailing suction hopper dredgers Shoalway and Strandway are currently working alongside our backhoe dredger Magnor to dredge one of the berths for large container vessels to the required depth. This is a major priority for the Port of Felixstowe, ensuring that these giant vessels can continue to load and discharge their cargo.

The Magnor is being assisted by our two pusher tugs Union Onyx and Union Topaz, which in turn are transporting the Terraferre barges 501 and 502 to and from the disposal area carrying dredged material. The dredging vessels will work intensively together for one week to bring the area in front of the berth to the required depth. After that, the Strandway will return to Rotterdam, and the Shoalway will carry out regular maintenance dredging work in the Haven. The dredger and associated vessels and barges will remain active for a while longer to dredge the remaining slope further south of the berth, which has less effect on vessels berthing at the berth, to the correct design specifications.

Nine out of ten of our ocean towage operations are international. Just think of the many FPSOs that are transported each year from Asia to the Middle East, Norway, Brazil or Australia. Recently, however, our ocean-going tug Bear carried out a different kind of transport for the jack-up rig Grannus: a โ€™domestic towโ€™ from the port of Rotterdam to Eemshaven, both located in the Netherlands. The Bear performed this tow as the lead tug, together with a second, smaller tug from a partner.

This operation once again highlights the Bearโ€™s versatility. In recent years, the vessel has carried out numerous towage operations, and has also contributed to the development of offshore wind farms and to salvage operations by Boskalisโ€™ subsidiary SMIT Salvage.

Even the very best in their field cannot perform at their peak all year round. Timely rest and treatment are essential to maintain top performance. This applies to people, and to vessels. After all, our activities at sea demand a lot from our fleet every day. A period in dry dock is therefore necessary to restore strength, carry out repairs and, if necessary, make modifications so that the next series of projects can also be carried out flawlessly.

Recently, such a rest period was scheduled for our construction support vessel BOKA Northern Ocean at the Astander dry dock in Santander, Spain. Although calling it a โ€œrest periodโ€ might be misleading... Dozens of colleagues, crew members, and subcontractors worked together to get the vessel back into service as quickly as possible. In just a few weeks, the 100-ton knuckle boom deck crane was overhauled and relocated, and an anti-roll tank was installed under the helicopter deck to further enhance the vessel's dynamic sailing behavior, making it even safer and more precise.

After this period in dry dock, the BOKA Northern Ocean departed Santander and is currently executing a project in the North Sea. We would like to thank Astander for the pleasant cooperation and wish the BOKA Northern Ocean and its crew every success with the the current and upcoming projects.

Boskalis recently returned an FPSO to Ivory Coast, where it has served as a floating production unit for decades and will continue to do so for years to come. Around a year ago, Boskalis disconnected the FPSO from the seabed infrastructure using the BOKA Falcon and four assisting anchor handlers, including the Manta, BOKA Expedition and BOKA Forward. The latter two vessels then towed the 403-meter-long FPSO to Dubai, where it entered dry dock for life-extension works. Once these works were completed, the FPSO was transported back to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, earlier this year by the BOKA Alpine and BOKA Forward. More recently, the final phase of this extensive Boskalis project was also completed successfully. While the Manta, BOKA Forward, BOKA Alpine and Princess held the FPSO in position, the BOKA Fulmar carried out the final mooring line replacement and hook up installation work for the FPSO.

This marked a magnificent finale to a remarkable project in which Boskalis Marine Services once again demonstrated its ability to deliver a fully integrated service. We would therefore like to thank our client for their trust and the pleasant collaboration. And, of course, we thank the crews of all vessels involved for their hard work and dedication.

Boskalis Nederland has been awarded the contract for a major sand replenishment project at the Galgeplaat and the Slikken van den Dortsman in the Oosterschelde estuary in the Netherlands. Following the construction of the Oosterscheldekering โ€“ a series of dams and storm surge barriers that protect the Netherlands from flooding from the North Sea โ€“ tidal currents in the Oosterschelde have decreased. As a result, less sand is naturally returned to the sandbanks, mudflats and salt marshes in this unique nature reserve. During storms, additional sand is washed into the channels, causing the sandbars to gradually shrink.

Rising sea levels will further accelerate this process in the years ahead. Without intervention, these valuable intertidal areas will eventually disappear below the waterline. This would have a major impact on biodiversity in the Oosterschelde, particularly for the many birds and seals that depend on these sandbanks and mudflats as for feeding and resting. By replenishing the area with 2.6 million cubic meters of new sand using a trailing suction hopper dredger, Boskalis will help preserve the Galgeplaat and Slikken van den Dortsman as vital feeding and resting habitats for at least the next 25 years.

Boskalis has signed a contract to deepen a new section of The Port of Gothenburg in Sweden. The dredging and blasting works will begin in October. The work will take place near a newly constructed quay and will enable more, larger and deeper-draught vessels to call at Scandinaviaโ€™s largest port.

The works form part of the portโ€™s contribution to the wider Skandia Gateway project, which will deepen the fairway into the Port of Gothenburg from todayโ€™s vessel draught of 13.5 meters to a maximum of 17.5 meters. As vessel sizes continue to grow, the current fairway depth already limits the ability of large vessels to call at the Port of Gothenburg fully loaded.

Today, we announce the successful first deployment of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) from our new Remote Operations Center (ROC) in Aberdeen, following an 18-month development program and an investment of GBP 40 million in ROVs and the ROC. This milestone reflects Boskalis' continuous focus on innovation, safety and future-proof offshore solutions. The ROC significantly expands our remote operating capabilities by enabling critical subsea tasks to be supported and controlled from shore. Earlier this week, Boskalisโ€™ newest subsea rock installation vessel, the Windpiper, arrived in the Netherlands. The 227-meter-long DP2 vessel has a rock-carrying capacity of 45,500 tons, making it the largest of its kind in the world, and will undergo further outfitting in Rotterdamโ€™s Waalhaven.

Over a year ago, Boskalis announced the purchase of the Windpiper, which at that time had a completely different function. A tremendous amount of work has since been done to convert the vessel into the state-of-the-art subsea rock installation vessel Windpiper. This included the creation of two large rock holds and the installation of the inclined fallpipe. This enables the Windpiper to install rock with great precision on and around offshore structures. In Rotterdam, the Windpiper will be further commissioned ahead of its first rock installation project in the Baltic Sea later this year.
