This week marked a historic milestone for our industry.

On March 4th, the world celebrated the very first International Day of Fruits and Vegetables, officially recognised by the United Nations following a resolution initiated by the Government of Chile and endorsed at the 44th FAO Conference.

For decades, the global fruit and vegetable sector has worked toward this moment. What was previously celebrated in October has now been formally established as an annual event on March 4th, underscoring the critical role fresh produce plays in sustainable food systems and global public health.

At VDH Products, we see this recognition as more than symbolic. It reflects what we experience every day: the growing demand for solutions that preserve quality, reduce waste, and support the entire chain from grower to consumer.

Here's to a future where fresh produce gets the attention it deserves. Not just on March 4th, but every day.

𝗙𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 | 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀: 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗕𝗔 𝟭𝟭𝟬
𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 there was the PROBA 110.

VDH Products' "Fruit Climate Computer" was already controlling the full ripening process back in the day: temperature, humidity, gas concentration, and ventilation, managed from a standalone unit or networked across up to 48 ripening rooms via VDH's own network interface.

It even supported remote access via modem. In the early 90s. Not bad.

Fast forward to today, and the PROBA 5 takes everything the 110 stood for into the modern era, DIN-Rail mounted, touchscreen operated, each controller with its own IP address on a standard ethernet network, and TÜV Rheinland certified.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻'𝘁: keeping the ripening process under control, every single time.
