𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿: 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗽𝗲 𝗱’𝗛𝘂𝗭𝗲𝘀🚶‍♂️🚴‍♂️

On 4 June, two Sif colleagues will take on an extraordinary challenge.

Mark Rutten (left) and Frank van Riet (right) will climb Alpe d’Huez: the iconic French mountain with 21 hairpin bends, 14.5 kilometres in length and 1,860 vertical metres. They will do so during Alpe d’HuZes, an event that raises funds for cancer research and for improving the quality of life of people living with cancer.

Mark will take on the mountain on foot, while Frank will complete the climb by bike. For both Mark and Frank, this challenge is deeply personal.

At Sif, we are proud to support colleagues who go the extra mile, or in this case, all the way up the mountain, for something bigger than themselves. Good luck, Mark and Frank. 💪

Loadouts for Bałtyk 2 & 3 spotted at our Maasvlakte site 👀🚢⚓

These monopiles, part of a total of 100, made their way to the Baltic Sea. A true milestone, as these projects mark Sif’s first projects at this location!

Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 are separate wind farms, each with a planned capacity of 720 MW, combining to a total of 1.44 GW. They are being installed in the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone of the Baltic Sea, located 37 km (Bałtyk 2) and 22 km (Bałtyk 3) from the coast, and fall under the Polish regulatory framework. The joint venture is between Equinor and Polenergia.

The project also includes 100 transition pieces, manufactured by Smulders and Sif. With this scale, the projects will contribute to powering millions of households and support the energy transition in Poland.

Last week, our colleague Nawal organised a wonderful Iftar. Colleagues who might not normally cross paths had the chance to meet, talk, eat and share stories. It was a lovely opportunity to get to know each other better, and to learn more about each other’s cultures.

𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝗿 '𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗹' 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 🧡👩🏼👩🏾

In honour of International Women's Day, a group of Sif’s female colleagues came together for a dinner, hosted by Nawal Oulad Abdelkrim. The evening was fully styled in true Sif fashion, and each guest received a Sif-branded goodie bag filled with items celebrating and empowering women. It was an evening filled with great food, drinks, laughter and, most importantly, connection.

As the steel industry has traditionally been dominated by men, it is all the more important to recognise and support the women who are part of it. Together, we find strength in one another and build meaningful connections.

Host Nawal shared:
“Women of Steel stands not only for strength, but also for connection, growth and courage. With this initiative we celebrate International Women’s Day and, above all, the women within Sif who make a difference every day. I was delighted to organise this.”

Learning & Development Manager Nicole Vossenberg is involved in both in-person and online training of Sif employees. Central to this is the Sif Academy: the overarching learning framework that includes an online platform and a range of physical structured learning pathways.

These learning pathways are developed in collaboration with external partners and focus on skills such as milling, welding, rolling and transport. The online platform brings all learning and development activities together in one place, always accessible, whenever it suits you. Here, employees can find their certifications, (online) training courses and work instructions.

Nicole explains: “At Sif, you don’t just learn a trick, you learn a trade. We train our people to become welders, transport operators, rollers. Our learning pathways combine theory and practice, helping you develop the right skills to grow in your profession.

Today, many people know Sif for offshore wind structures 🌬️🌊
But our story started long before offshore wind became our core business.

For decades, we’ve been involved in impressive projects that pushed the limits of steel, scale and engineering, and some of them might surprise you 👇

🌊 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗮 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀, 𝗢𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗷𝗲 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘀
Sif produced the tubes for the locks of the Oosterschelde storm surge barrier, as well as the foundation piles for the bridge to Neeltje Jans in Zeeland. And here’s a fun fact: the piles beneath this bridge were the very first piles ever produced by Sif back in the early 1980s. A true milestone in our history.

The Brighton i360 is a 162-metre observation tower on the seafront. Sif supplied the tower sections to main contractor Hollandia, helping form the backbone of this iconic structure

🎡 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝘆𝗲
Yes, Sif contributed to the London Eye! We produced tubular structures used in this world-famous landmark, visited by millions every year.

From flood protection to world-famous landmarks, these projects reflect decades of craftsmanship, engineering expertise and pride in what we build, long before offshore wind became our core business 🔩🏗️✨

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆𝗸 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 🌊⚡

In Roermond, we have successfully completed all 100 Transition Pieces (TPs) for the two Bałtyk Offshore Wind projects (Bałtyk 2 & 3). This milestone marks the completion of an important phase of the Bałtyk project. The final batch is transported to Hoboken this week, where Smulders will continue with the next stage of assembly.

This achievement reflects the strength of collaboration between our teams and partners. Safety remained a top priority during this phase of the project. By adhering strictly to our safety standards and clear procedures, the work during this phase of the project was carried out in a controlled manner.

Yesterday was filled with festive cheer at Roermond and the Maasvlakte, as we handed out our Christmas boxes to colleagues. ✨

Everyone enjoyed a cosy moment together with warm hot chocolate, a festive treat, and Christmas music setting the scene. 🎶 A perfect opportunity to pause, thank our colleagues for their hard work throughout the year, and celebrate the Christmas spirit together.

𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗶𝗳 🎉

Did you know that we’re currently producing five transition pieces in our Roermond facility every week, and that those five TPs together weigh as much as five Boeing 747s?

We’re currently manufacturing 100 transition pieces for Bałtyk 2 & 3. Each TP weighs around 300 tonnes, which could be the same as a single loaded Boeing 747!

If only our TPs had wings too, transporting them would be a whole lot easier! ✈️😉
