Metagro heeft een eigen lijn operator seats ontwikkeld en geproduceerd. Vanuit het gezichtspunt van de operator. Daardoor heeft uw operator een goede zithouding; de nek, rug en armen worden ondersteund en daardoor treden minder fysieke klachten op. En dat leidt tot minder ziekteverzuim. Bovendien blijft de operator zo langer fit. En dat leidt weer tot een hogere productie met minder fouten.

The one research project that changed everything

Back in 2002, crane operators, ergonomics specialists and the port’s medical service came together to solve a serious problem: neck and back complaints were keeping too many operators out of the cabin.

That collaboration was groundbreaking for its time. Instead of simply treating the symptoms, they studied the way operators actually worked and redesigned the seating position around them.

The result was the first Metagro Ergoseat.

And the impact was significant:
• 50.5% fewer neck and back complaints
• 32% less absenteeism
• 94.81% positive operator feedback

These archive photos take us back to the beginning of a development journey that still shapes what we do today. We owe it to operators and terminals to understand their challenges. And to constantly develop innovative solutions that make it great to operate.

In mining, offshore and steel industries, operators spend long hours working in demanding conditions. That’s why the Heavy Duty Seat is built around stability, durability and ergonomics. The rigid base structure and heavy-duty bearing provide a stable seating position, while the pneumatic and mechanical suspension system helps absorb both light and heavy vibrations.

The seat height can be electrically adjusted by up to 240 mm, making it easy to set the ideal working height. The armrests are also easy to adjust and offer various adjustment options. This allows every operator to find a comfortable and ergonomically sound working position.

Preventive maintenance is often only addressed when problems arise. That's a shame, because regular inspections can help prevent breakdowns, downtime, and unnecessary costs.

In a conversation with Marco Lekkerkerker, we discussed the importance of cabin inspections. Marco works closely with Patrick Dimmers, who serves as Service Coordinator. During such an inspection, our service engineers assess the technical condition, safety, functionality, and comfort of the cabin. This includes checking windows, lighting, air conditioning, cables, suspension, control consoles, and operator seats.

Inspections are particularly valuable for cabins that are used intensively on a daily basis, such as those in port cranes and terminals. By identifying wear and deviations at an early stage, maintenance work can be scheduled in a timely manner, ensuring the cabin remains safe, reliable, and comfortable to use.

They are among the most frequently used components on a machine, yet probably one of the most overlooked when it comes to maintenance. Windshield wipers often remain in service long after their performance has declined. In the meantime, visibility gradually deteriorates, often without anyone noticing.

Good visibility is essential for safe operation. Research on cabin safety, operator health, ergonomics and productivity consistently identifies visibility as one of the key factors in workplace safety. Poor visibility increases the risk of loads striking obstacles, exposes ground personnel to danger through blind spots and often forces operators into awkward, strained working postures. It all starts with a clean windshield.

No matter how advanced windshield wipers are, wiper blades wear over time. Sunlight, rain, dirt and daily use gradually reduce their performance, often before the wear is visible. That's why manufacturers and maintenance specialists recommend replacing wiper blades at least once a year.
