Beijer Automotive started installing trip registration systems in 1991 and acquired considerable expertise in tapping signals in vehicles over the years. This led to the publication of the In-car instruction book in 1995, the predecessor of the online In-car instruction database. Within half a year after its introduction, some 70 installers and workshops in the Netherlands and Belgium were already using the In-car instruction book, including several leading companies in this market. At present, a few thousand installers and workshops, lease companies, garages, dealers and government institutions in the Netherlands and abroad have a subscription to the In-car instructions and use the telephone helpdesk.
