πŸ”§ Nissan 350Z gearbox – full rebuild + AquaBlast ✨

This one turned out to be a much bigger job than expected.

βš™οΈ The gearbox was completely inspected, measured and rebuilt.
A large number of parts had to be replaced because the condition was worse than it first looked.

πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅ Many of the parts were specially sourced from Japan, including parts that are no longer available in Europe.
Some components even had to be specially produced in Japan, while a few others were extremely difficult to find and had to be sourced elsewhere.

πŸ“¦ It took some serious searching and organizing, but in the end everything was found, checked and assembled according to specification.

✨ The gearbox housing also received a complete AquaBlast treatment.

Really happy I could help with this project and bring this gearbox back to the condition it should be in.

More interesting projects are already on the way πŸ‘Œ

A good example of what Aqua Blasting is capable of. πŸ”§πŸ’¦

These gearbox gears were first thoroughly degreased and cleaned in a parts washer.

After that, the deeper corrosion and oxidation were clearly visible.

Using Aqua Blasting, the corrosion was removed while the surface was also cleaned, lightly smoothed and refined at the same time.

The result shows very well how Aqua Blasting can restore heavily contaminated and corroded metal parts and bring back a much cleaner, more even surface.

Stripped or damaged threads in a gearbox housing don’t automatically mean the housing needs to be replaced. πŸ”§

Professional thread repair is also one of the services I offer during gearbox repairs and rebuilds.

The damaged thread is carefully restored so the connection is strong, reliable and can be tightened correctly to the specified torque again.

πŸ”§ Honda S2000 rear differential rebuild with an MFactory L*D βš™οΈ

Rear differentials require a lot of precision, which is exactly why I enjoy rebuilding them. 🎯

To do this job properly, you need more than just the Honda workshop manual, because some important details are not described there. πŸ“–

⏱️ In just 90 seconds, you can see the complete rebuild β€” a job that actually takes many hours of careful and precise work.

I hope you enjoy the video! πŸ™Œ

βš™οΈ Another Honda FN2 K-Series gearbox on the bench. πŸ”₯

Built for track days, this transmission is getting the attention it deserves.

πŸ†• Rebuild includes:
βœ… A large selection of brand-new Genuine Honda OEM parts
βœ… Synchrotech carbon 2nd gear synchronizer
βœ… MFactory Helical L*D + Stage 1 Racepack Upgrade

Now it’s time to put everything back together with the precision it deserves. πŸ”§

Quality. Reliability. Performance.

Not every brand-new aftermarket part is ready to install...

This K-series gearbox proved exactly why measuring everything is so important.

Built for a turbocharged Honda drag car driven by an experienced and well-known drag racer.

πŸ”§ Specification:
βœ… FF Transmissions 1st–4th gearset
βœ… FF Transmissions 5th Gear Cuff
βœ… Synchrotech carbon synchronizers
βœ… Synchrotech hubs & sleeves
βœ… Genuine Honda bearings, seals and OEM components where they matter
βœ… MFactory Helical L*D

Every gearbox I build is completely cleaned, inspected, measured and assembled to specification.

As with every gearbox I build, all critical clearances were measured and checked against Honda specifications. During the final inspection, I found that the axial clearance of both the 3rd and 4th gears was below Honda's standard specification for new components (0.06–0.16 mm).

Even a 0.06 mm feeler gauge was already a tight fit, meaning the actual clearance was below the minimum specification.

If assembled like this, the gearbox could generate excessive heat under high load, leading to accelerated wear and, in extreme cases, friction welding and catastrophic gearbox failure.

The only proper solution was to correct the clearances before final assembly.

This is exactly why every gearbox is measured from start to finish. Even high-quality aftermarket parts can require adjustment before they're truly ready to handle serious power.

**Never assume aftermarket means perfect. Always measure.**

If you made it all the way to the end, you must really be into gearboxes. πŸ˜„ Drop a like if you enjoyed the story!

I had a bad feeling about this gearbox from the moment I saw the amount of liquid gasket on it... πŸ˜… Someone had definitely been here before me β€” and probably not with the right knowledge.

Today I worked on a Honda D-series EP gearbox that came in with noisy bearings.

Before disassembly, I already noticed that the mainshaft was almost impossible to turn by hand. Even with a special tool fitted to the mainshaft, it was still extremely tight.

After disassembling, cleaning, inspecting and measuring everything, I started reassembling the gearbox properly. During the final assembly and preload checks of the mainshaft and differential, I noticed that the casing was extremely difficult to fit over the mainshaft bearing.

I removed it again to find out why.

And there it was: a cracked and deformed gearbox casing.

Part of the aluminium shim seat had been pushed inward and deformed. It looks like the gearbox suffered a serious impact at some point, possibly during an accident.

My guess is that someone previously opened the gearbox and replaced the bearings, but never noticed the damaged casing and that the mainshaft was running far too tight.

Another good example of why rebuilding a gearbox is not just about replacing worn parts. Everything needs to be properly inspected, measured and checked.

Sometimes a gearbox comes in for β€œjust noisy bearings”... and the real story turns out to be much more interesting. πŸ˜…

If you made it all the way to the end, you must really be into gearboxes. πŸ˜„ Drop a like if you enjoyed the story!
