⚠️ 90% of big fish populations are depleted. Half of coral reefs are gone.

On this , the UN calls on all of us to sustain what sustains us.

For the dredging industry, that call is both a responsibility and an opportunity.

Dredging shapes the world's coastlines and ports — which means it directly affects the health of marine ecosystems. That's exactly why sustainable dredging goes beyond minimising harm. It actively works to restore what the ocean needs.

🌊 The ocean sustains us. Sustainable dredging helps sustain the ocean.

The signals are clear. Rising seas. Eroding coastlines. Disappearing wetlands.

This , UNEP's call to action is simple: read the signals - and send one back.

For the dredging industry, an answer to those signals has a name: Nature-based Solutions.

Restoring mangroves that protect coastlines from storm surges. Creating living shorelines that outperform concrete seawalls. Rebuilding seagrass meadows that stabilise the seabed and filter water. Replenishing beaches with responsibly sourced sand to buffer communities against rising seas.

This is what working with nature - not against it - looks like in practice.

At IADC, Nature-based Solutions are one of the five core principles of our Dredging for Sustainable Infrastructure philosophy. Because the most resilient infrastructure doesn't fight natural processes. It harnesses them.
