GLC SatCom Is a small provider within the satcom industry based in Aalesund, Norway and with a sub office in Stavanger. GLC Satcom performs installations, upgrades projects, service and maintenance on board various of vessels and oilrigs around the world. We are now planning to strengthen our position in southern Europa and are searching for service engineers/techs to our new established office in Fuengirola, Malaga.
Positions: Two, one Service Engineer, one trainee.
Location: Southern Spain, Algeciras or nearby area.
Gran Canarias, Las Palmas
Requirements:
• Degree in electrical/electronic/communications engineering (preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Excellent English both written and verbal. Additional languages are an advantage.
• Good skills in MS-Office environment (Word, Excel & Project).
• Basics of RF (Satellite/Microwave) communications and IP Networking (Cisco experience preferred).
• Familiar with Spectrum Analyser and/or BER Test Equipment.
• Self-organized, problem-solving skills, technical background, communications skills, client relations management, conflict resolution and planning skills.
• Be able to pass basic medical fitness test.
• Not afraid of heights. Working aloft may be required
• Heavy travel required. Europe Mideast and Africa and, within Spain.
• Ability to maintain valid passport and safety certification
• Driver license.
• Inmarsat certified, or Inmarsat trained is not mandatory but desirable.
• FX knowledge
Essential Functions:
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English
• Perform Site Surveys as required
• Troubleshooting RF and IP components of Maritime VSAT and network at the installation
• Installation, configuration, testing and troubleshooting communication equipment including satellite modems, transceivers, BUC’s, LNB’s, Stabilized antennas (SeaTel, Sailor, Intellian).
• Provide service and support to our customers
• Interpret technical drawings, service orders, circuit diagrams, part lists and schematics to effectively understand and troubleshoot customer issues.
• Conduct initial user familiarization training with the customer
• Ensuring customer satisfaction at the highest level!
• Determining the best location for terminal installations
• Maintain inventory of parts and tools
• Complete detailed written corrective maintenance, site survey and preventative maintenance reports that are clear and grammatically correct in English upon completion of service activity.
• Maintain tools, test equipment and manage spares inventory as required.
• Maintain the proper up-to-date documents to travel on short notice.
• Be a part of our duty on call
• Be able to sell in our solutions to new and existing customers in periods with low activity.

Trainee:
• For the position as a trainee, a background with any type of electrical/mechanical experience could be considered, but driving license, passport and fluent English is mandatory also for this position.
