What if the next critical wave did not have to be a surprise? 🌊 In offshore wind, the weather window sets the limits. Real-time measurements show what is happening now. Short-term prediction adds what may happen next.

That extra foresight can help crews time weather-sensitive operations with more confidence.

Wave height, direction and period, current, air gap, water level and vessel motion all support different decisions.

The Miros Solution Finder for offshore wind operators helps teams identify what to measure, why it matters, and which technology provides the grounded, real-time insight needed to act.

How much can you really improve offshore operations if you cannot see what the ocean is doing in real-time? 🌊🚢 This August, Miros will be at three industry events across Brazil and Norway, discussing how better ocean insight can support safer and more efficient operations.

1) Navalshore, Rio de Janeiro | 18–20 August
2) ONS, Stavanger | 24–27 August
3) , Brasil, Vitória | 26 August

If you’re attending, connect with my colleagues *Chris Moncrieff and *Andrew Wallace and start the conversation.

See you in Rio, Stavanger or Vitória.

A metocean forecast can tell you what to expect. It cannot confirm what the vessel is facing right now. Better go/no-go decisions start with a shared decision basis.

When offshore conditions are close to the limit, every team should work from the same facts: measured conditions, agreed limits and clear responsibility.

Oil and gas operators do not need every available ocean measurement. They need the measurements that answer the operational question. Different risks require different data.

Is there oil on the sea surface? What are the waves doing at the exact location? How are water level, airgap or surface current changing?

The Miros Solution Finder for oil and gas operators helps teams identify what to measure, why it matters, and which technology provides the grounded, real-time insight needed to act.

What if the wave conditions measured offshore are not the conditions your rig is actually experiencing?

Around a semi-submersible, wave diffraction and shallow-water effects over the pontoons can amplify local wave crests and reduce the available air gap.

The real risk may sit between the modelled sea state and the water surface beneath the deck.

Do you know the true relationship between incoming waves and air gap on your rig?

The question is: Which data matters for vessel performance, and which data can be trusted?

Shipping fleets have more performance data than ever. But more data does not automatically mean better decisions.

A vessel’s performance cannot be judged fairly without accounting for the conditions it actually faced.

Wind, waves and currents affect speed, fuel use and efficiency. Yet too many performance decisions still rely on assumptions or incomplete data.

Measured data provides the grounded truth. It shows what the vessel actually faces, from waves and currents to speed-through-water. That foundation makes calculated performance indicators, comparisons and weather-normalized analysis across a vessel or fleet more credible.

The Miros Solution Finder for shipping vessels helps operators identify what to measure, why it matters, and where reliable performance insight should begin.
