A metocean forecast can tell you what to expect. It cannot confirm what the vessel is facing right now. Better go/no-go decisions start with a shared decision basis.

What if the wave conditions measured offshore are not the conditions your rig is actually experiencing?

Around a semi-submersible, wave diffraction and shallow-water effects over the pontoons can amplify local wave crests and reduce the available air gap.
