Today, the 4th of March, is World Engineering Day, and we congratulate all our engineers, technicians, and specialist teams across Kitron Global!

This year, the celebration under the theme ‘Smart engineering for sustainable future through innovation and digitalisation’ is organised by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) with the support of UNESCO in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Dr. Marlene Kanga AO FTSE FAA FREng FAICD, the Former President of the WFEO, who led the proposal for World Engineering Day, said, ‘Engineers aren’t very good at articulating the value of engineering and the impact that engineers and engineering have on society. This is a wonderful opportunity to talk about these aspects and engage the community in the work of engineers.’

At Kitron, we are proud of our engineers and will continue to speak tirelessly about how they, through their commitment and engagement in everyday work, remain the essential foundation for the constant development of our company. Kitron’s engineers are among the key players in driving innovation into tomorrow’s world.

For nine years, Zhang Kun has grown together with Kitron. Over time, he has learned to meet challenges with confidence and, as a Program Manager, to bring people together around a shared purpose. This week, the Higher Education School Fair in Kaunas gathered pupils exploring future study and career opportunities. 🚀

The "Future for Electronic Engineers" community (lit. Ateitis – elektronikams) had a dedicated stand, where the team from Kitron Lithuania represented Kitron by speaking with students and explaining why the electronics industry is the right choice for the future.

Students showed strong interest, engagement, and curiosity about the ins and outs of the industry and what it takes to be a professional in electronics. Engineering, development, and the business tied to it are truly the fields that can help pave the world of tomorrow in which the young generations can – and will – thrive to the fullest.

It’s inspiring to see the next era of youth electronic engineers grow and flourish!

We are pleased to welcome trainees from Yrkeshögskolan Jönköping as they begin their five‑week internship at Kitron.

Their Electronic Technician program prepares students with practical skills in diagnostics, assembly, and testing, and we are proud to provide a real‑world environment where they can further develop these competencies.

Meet Øystein Grødum, a Key Account Manager at Kitron who knows exactly what it takes to perform under pressure. Before joining our team, Øystein spent 13 years as an international speed skater, representing Norway in two Olympic Winter Games.

From the pure excitement of Salt Lake City in 2002 to the high-stakes intensity of Torino in 2006, where he narrowly missed the podium with two 4th-place finishes, Øystein’s journey is a masterclass in resilience.

"Sports taught me that what is good enough today won’t be good enough tomorrow. If better is possible, good is not enough."

Today, Øystein brings that same Olympic energy and "constant improvement" mindset to Kitron. Pavel joined Kitron Czech over 11 years ago as a Material Handler. He’s now an integral part of our logistics team, making sure materials flow smoothly through production. The dynamic nature of the job, strong teamwork, and supportive work environment made his work meaningful.

“What I enjoy about my job is that it’s hands-on, decisive, and you definitely don’t get bored,” says Pavel. “I like the fact that my work is meaningful and an important part of the whole production process.”
