Robotics 4.0 All - Integrating STEM practices in school education with a fun approach
Our project was born out of the pressing need to introduce STEM teaching in primary and secondary school education applied to existing subjects like Maths and Science or as a core subject all on its own. With a world and a labour market that increasingly relies on machinery, technology and automation, we need to better prepare the workforce of the future by properly educating the children of today.
Funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ programme, Robotics 4.00 All is led by a consortium of partners from seven different countries (FIRST Scandinavia from Norway, eduACT from Greece, MTÜ Robootika from Estonia, Inercia Digital from Spain, OECON Group from Bulgaria, Open Media Group from Croatia and Dekaplus from Cyprus) with different specialty backgrounds in the world of robotics, education and digital skills. Over the next 24 months, we will all work together to create comprehensive robotics curricula for school teachers and trainers, adapted to different age ranges. Promoting the systematic integration of STEM and robotics-related practices in school education and spreading its benefits to European schools and education providers is one of the project’s main objectives.
And we’re not stopping there! We will also be training two educators/trainers from each participating country who will then be responsible for training seven groups of eight 13 to 17-year-old youngsters who will battle out in the project’s big finale - a friendly LEGO Tournament to be held in Greece.
Our vision and mission is to foster the early learning of programming, coding and robotics with the help of LEGO Mindstorm kits, ultimately adding a more fun dimension to “tricky” subjects like Maths and Science and encouraging more youngsters to consider a future career path in robotics to meet the growing demand for programming-related jobs.
