The reverberations from the war in the Middle East will be felt for months to come in energy markets, and in some instances, years.

In this short article we explore the implications of the events unfolding in the Strait of Hormuz and the wider Gulf region for the long-term global energy transition.

The sheer scale of the energy shock to oil and gas supply over the last month is almost certainly going to work in the long-term favour of renewables, batteries, and nuclear.

New DNV research for the European Maritime Safety Agency shows that design-based safety must form the foundation for hydrogen-fuelled ships. The study examines how technical barriers, operational procedures, and crew competence must work together to manage hydrogen’s unique risks.

The analysis finds that the industry remains in an early phase, with only a small number of vessels in operation and further work needed for ocean-going applications. It also confirms that hydrogen brings specific safety challenges, including high flammability, low ignition energy, and rapid gas dispersion. Even small leaks can escalate, which is why the study recommends secondary enclosures for all hydrogen-carrying components, including those located on open deck.

For readers assessing future fuel strategies or regulatory implications, the full study provides a detailed assessment of the safety measures needed for wider adoption of hydrogen in shipping.

DNV spinout Ofiniti secures $6.8M to accelerate global digital bunkering adoption

We’re proud to share that Ofiniti, originally developed inside DNV, has raised $6.8M in new funding, bringing total investment to $9M. The round was led by Verb Ventures, with participation from ShipsFocus, DNV Ventures, and Nysnø Climate Investments.

Since spinning out from DNV in 2024, Ofiniti has become a leader in digital bunkering - processing 25,000+ bunker operations in 2025 and holding around 40% market share in Singapore, the world’s largest bunkering hub.

As regulations tighten and the fuel transition accelerates, demand for verifiable digital fuel documentation continues to grow. Ofiniti is now expanding across Singapore, Oslo, the ARA region, West Africa, and Scandinavia.

“The team has proven it can win and retain key customers and is well‑positioned for global growth.” says Kaare Helle, Venture Director, DNV Ventures.

As the region moves decisively to strengthen its position as a leading global energy supplier, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have also established ambitious decarbonization goals - all of its members now aim to reach net zero by 2050 or 2060. What does it take for one of the world’s most influential energy regions to lead the transformation of hydrocarbons, reducing emissions while maintaining energy security and competitiveness?

Medical technology is advancing at incredible speed. But when lives depend on that innovation, trust is essential.

Cecilie Gudesen Torp, Managing Director of our Medical Technologies business, shares her reflections from our recent Senior Management Council in Oslo, where she moderated a session reflecting on the critical role certification plays in ensuring medical devices are safe, reliable, and worthy of trust, not just at approval, but throughout their entire lifecycle.

A highlight of the discussion was hearing directly from two of our medical device customers, Category Regulatory Affairs Lead, Perrigo Josephine Tolley and Karsten Wallbrück, Director Regulatory Affairs Europe, PRRC (AR), Heart Recovery at J&J MedTech, who shared their perspectives on compliance, partnership, and what truly enables innovation to reach patients safely. We sincerely thank them for their openness and valuable insights.

Certification is more than a regulatory requirement. It is a foundation for trust, collaboration, and sustainable innovation in healthcare.

When data doesn’t flow reliably between systems, the cost shows up as delayed discharges, fragmented aftercare, and less time for patients.

Healthcare professionals are spending more time on documentation and coordination, and less time delivering care. Reducing this pressure is essential for safe, efficient healthcare delivery, and data interoperability plays a central role.

To support this, 𝗗𝗡𝗩 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗮 €𝟯𝟳 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲, a Berlin-based provider of technology solutions for hospitals and care providers. As AI increasingly shapes the customer journey, browsing and buying behavior is shifting fast. With chatbots and agents taking on more of the discovery, comparing, and summarizing, visibility has become less about ranking and more about being included in the answer.

In this episode of Veracity AI Talks, we’re joined by Tore Frihagen (Director of Digital Commerce) and Anders Norbom Walløe (Director of Platform Strategy and Analytics) to explore how digital marketplaces are adapting, and what “agentic commerce” could mean for the future of B2B buying. Tune in as we discuss:

▪ How AI is changing the way customers discover and evaluate brands
▪ Why brands need to optimize for AI agents, not just search engines
▪ What GEO means for discoverability in the age of AI agents
▪ How Veracity Marketplace is preparing for machine-readable, agent-friendly content
▪ How AI can support lead segmentation and smarter routing across the funnel
▪ What “agentic commerce” could mean for the future of B2B buying
