Last week, under the Int. Tug & Salvage Convention, Exhibition & Awards in Gothenburg, our founder and owner, Johannes Østensjø, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award 🏆

“The award is awarded to an individual who has made a contribution of outstanding significance to the international tug and salvage industry during their lifetime”.

Congratulations to Johannes Østensjø, who, for more than five decades, has been a driving force behind maritime innovation, operational excellence, and the evolution of offshore support and towage services.

Last week, we held our annual Officers Conference in Haugesund.
This year’s theme, “A Robust Work Environment,” focused on ensuring a safe and inclusive workplace in a dynamic work environment at sea.

The conference is a valued arena, confirming the importance of meeting in person, having face-to-face conversations, and strengthening the vital link between land and sea.

Østensjø Rederi has signed a newbuild contract with GONDAN Shipbuilders for the construction of a next-generation offshore tug, scheduled for delivery in Q1 2028. The newbuild, a Skipsteknisk ST 933 design, will be the largest and most powerful tug built by Østensjø.

“The newbuild represents a major step in further strengthening our offshore towage fleet,” says Kristian Helland Vea, CEO of Østensjø Rederi. “Building on our extensive experience from tug operations, we have focused on developing a tug that delivers both the capacity and reliability required for offshore tug operations, meeting the demands of tomorrow".
