Better coastal research starts with better data.

During a recent visit to the University of Barcelona, KONGSBERG demonstrated how the portable EM2042 multibeam echosounder can support high resolution shallow water mapping for both research and teaching.

Designed for easy deployment with minimal integration effort, the system delivers detailed bathymetry and seabed characterisation while fitting seamlessly into existing research workflows. The demonstration showed how one portable solution can support scientific field campaigns as well as hands on education in marine geosciences.

When one engineering discipline leads to another.

After graduating in civil engineering, Anders joined KONGSBERG and is now combining his role with a master's degree in Systems Engineering.

His experience reflects the interdisciplinary nature of modern engineering, where different backgrounds and perspectives contribute to solving complex challenges.

What brings 110 KONGSBERG employees to the mountains of Lofoten?

Certainly not the promise of comfort.

This year's Lofoten Ultra Trail Relay delivered everything from driving rain and low clouds to snow covered peaks and sunshine. But year after year, employees keep coming back.

Competing in both the 100-mile and 50-mile relay categories, our teams took on long distances and demanding terrain across the Lofoten Islands. Along the way, colleagues from different parts of KONGSBERG shared kilometres, conversations and challenges that are difficult to recreate in a meeting room.

Marine aids to navigation are the foundation of safe and efficient shipping, even if they often go unnoticed.

On World Marine Aids to Navigation Day, we recognise the role they play in keeping global maritime traffic moving safely.

For KONGSBERG, this is also part of our history. In 1979, we delivered the world's first Vessel Traffic Service system at Teesport in the UK. Today, we continue to work with ports, coastal administrations and maritime authorities around the world to strengthen maritime safety and improve traffic flow.

As a member of IALA, KONGSBERG contributes to the development of international standards through technical expertise and collaboration across the maritime industry.

KONGSBERG selected for seven European Defence Fund projects

Strong position in the 2025 European Defence Fund programme, with seven projects selected among a record 410 applications. The selected projects span cyber, space, maritime and land systems, along with sensor technologies and training.

The European Commission has allocated EUR 1.07 billion to 57 projects under the 2025 EDF programme, part of a total budget of EUR 7.3 billion for the period 2021–2027.

KONGSBERG’s participation, with a total EU contribution of approximately EUR 280 million, reflects a broad role in the development of future defence capabilities for Europe.
