Last week, OceanFront had the opportunity to visit key ports along the U.S. West Coast, including The Port of San Francisco, Port of San Diego, Port of Long Beach, Port of Los Angeles, Port of Seattle, Port of Bellingham, and Port of Everett. A big thank you to the ports for their hospitality and valuable discussions—and for making it happen. Sustainability 🌱 was high on the agenda, with a strong focus on reducing emissions and transitioning to greener operations.
A lot of attention is rightfully given to reducing emissions and tackling pollution on the surface, but what lies beneath the surface also matters. Seabed pollution, lost fishing gear 🎣, and underwater debris can have long-term impacts on marine ecosystems and pose risks to port operations. Clearing these obstacles not only improves environmental conditions but also enhances safety 🚢 for vessels, infrastructure, and marine life 🐙.
We had insightful discussions 💬 with port representatives about the importance of addressing the challenges hidden beneath the waterline. It was inspiring to see their commitment to sustainability 🌍 and safer maritime environments, and we look forward to turning these discussions into action.
Seabed pollution is not just a local problem—it’s a global challenge affecting ports and marine environments in every ocean. Because in the end, a clean ocean starts from the bottom up. 🌊♻️
