Herøysund Bridge. Take a look to the final result!

Opened in autumn 2024, the new bridge was built due to the deteriorated concrete condition of the original Herøysundet Bridge. It now ensures a safe and permanent road connection between the main islands of Sør and Nord Herøy. The old bridge will be demolished shortly.

At Degree of Freedom, we were in charge of bridge design and structural engineering during all design stages.

Norgesporten Bridge, Ørje, Norway.

Sleek, sculptural, and symbolic. Degree of Freedom designed, for Multiconsult and Statens vegvesen the new “Gateway of Norway”.

The bridge clearly tells the travellers on the E18 highway between Stockholm and Oslo that they have reached Norway.

Spanning 75 metres, the painted box girder bridge features an eye-catching asymmetrical cross-section and a striking 53-metre-high pylon that defines its silhouette.

The whale.

Conceived as a cultural hub and whale-watching centre, it blends naturally into the dramatic coastline of Andenes.

Designed by , the structure emerges organically from the rocky landscape, featuring a curved concrete shell roof covered with local stones, creating a walkable surface that offers panoramic views of the ocean and northern lights.

Degree of Freedom worked on the preliminary design of the project.

Developed in collaboration with Dorte Mandrup, Indira, Marianne Levinsen Landskab ApS , Thornton Tomasetti, Advansia, and The Whale.

Finansparken was officially opened on 30 November 2019 and now brings together 750 employees of SpareBank 1 SMN.

The seven-storey building spans approximately 14,000 m² and is primarily a timber structure, featuring glulam columns and beams, except for the four stabilising cores made of in-situ concrete.

Developed in collaboration with Helen & Hard, SAAHA, Rambøll, SMI, iARK, Kraftværk, Landskapsfabrikken and Degree of Freedom.

Along one of Norway’s National Scenic Routes, Tyrvefjøra is a rest area designed to blend with the dramatic natural landscape of a small bay just outside Ålvik, along the beautiful Hardangerfjord.

Here, you’ll find two public toilets quietly embedded between boulders and rich geological formations—a construction unlike anything you’ve seen before. Developed in collaboration with Helen & Hard, Création Holz, Degree of Freedom, and Statens vegvesen.
