We’re proud to share our 2025 Sustainability Report! 🌍✨

Aligned with the VSME framework, this is our most comprehensive look yet at how BRIGHT Products is delivering on our commitment to responsible, durable design.

We build solar lamps for people in off‑grid communities and humanitarian settings — places where reliability truly matters. That’s why we focus on durability, repairability, and full transparency around materials and emissions.

2025 Highlights:
✅ 449 tCO₂e total GHG emissions
☀️ 94% renewable electricity in our own operations
🏭 Manufacturing partner powered by 100% rooftop solar (~540,000 kWh)
♻️ Flagship product lines made with 100% post‑consumer recycled plastic
🔧 Repair Programme active in 2 humanitarian settings, with 80+ local technicians trained
👩‍💼 55% female workforce, with women represented across all top management roles

We believe that honest measurement drives real progress. That’s why we follow the VSME framework and work with Greenly on carbon accounting — because what gets measured gets improved.

There’s still more to do. But transparency is where progress starts.

BRIGHT’s portable solar lamps are engineered and tested to perform — and last — in demanding environments.

We work with an ISO 17025‑certified laboratory to certify compliance with IEC TS 62257‑9‑5 and IEC TS 62257‑9‑8 — two key IEC standards widely used within the humanitarian sector to verify the quality, safety and performance of portable solar lighting products. Our products also comply with the EU’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Conformité Européenne (CE) regulations.

But we don’t stop there. We go the extra mile to ensure our products are best in class for quality and reliability. SunBell and our next‑generation solar lamp Sol have been tested and certified for photobiological safety (IEC 62471) — ensuring their use won’t pose a danger to users’ eyes. 💡

Together with our engineering and manufacturing partners, we conduct additional engineering stress tests to validate durability and make our products even more robust. We also test in the real world around the globe, using feedback to drive ongoing design improvements — so our lamps perform reliably wherever they are deployed.

Happy International Women's Day!
BRIGHT joins millions around the world in celebrating International Women's Day, and honouring the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the world. This year's global theme, "Give to Gain," underscores the importance of collective support in expanding opportunities for women and girls. When communities invest in women, the impact multiplies.

Our commitment to the UN Women's Empowerment Principles and Sustainable Development Goals guides practical action. We believe women, and girls, disproportionately bear the burden of energy poverty. In the field, we engage directly with women about safety, daily routines and their needs to inform product design. We also strive to include women in initiatives like our solar lamp repair programme that helps participants build technical electronics repair skills.

Access to light and energy support safety, health and opportunity. Today, we reaffirm a core belief: advancing energy access is essential to advancing gender equality.

In an emergency, light needs to last for days, not just a few hours.

For families in displacement camps or temporary shelters, reliable light means safety, dignity, and the ability to move, cook, study and stay connected.

That's why we developed Sol Mid Capacity, a solar lamp built specifically for humanitarian response.

When charging opportunities are limited, and conditions are harsh, equipment has to be dependable. Sol Mid Capacity is designed to keep working when it matters most.

Why it makes a difference:
💡 Multi‑day runtime from a single charge
🔌Phone charging for essential communication
🌧️IP64 durability for dust, rain, and a robust design for tough handling
🛠️ 5-7 year design life with a replaceable battery
♻️ 100% recycled housing and low CO₂ footprint

For humanitarian organisations, this means lower total cost of ownership, fewer resupplies, and more reliable support for the people you serve.

Portable solar lamps may look simple, but their performance in real-world settings depends on smart engineering.

Behind every reliable lamp is a balance of:
🔆 Solar panel capacity
🔋 Battery chemistry
💡 LED efficiency
🔧 Internal electronics (PCB power management)

Get these right, and you get a lamp that’s safe, long-lasting, and dependable in off‑grid and crisis environments.
Get them wrong… and the lamp fails when people need it most.

In our latest article, we break down:
✔ The key components that matter
✔ Common misconceptions
✔ What to look for when selecting solar lighting for humanitarian or emergency use

Most people take lighting for granted. In displacement settings lighting directly affects safety, education, and resilience.

According to the UNHCR, 117.3 million people are forcibly displaced worldwide.
In displacement camp settings, an estimated 80% lack reliable access to electricity for lighting.

For humanitarian procurement teams, addressing this challenge is a procurement decision with long-term consequences. Solar lamps are a proven solution.

This article looks at:
💡 Why lighting underpins protection and learning outcomes.
⚠️ Why lowest-cost procurement increases operational risk.
♻️ What to assess instead: durability, lifecycle cost, and e-waste risk

SunBell is one of the few humanitarian solar lamps backed by Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), giving procurement teams verified, third-party data on environmental impact, materials, and lifecycle performance.

For organisations working under growing ESG, donor, and reporting requirements, this matters.

EPDs help answer critical questions:
🌍What is the product’s real environmental footprint?
🛡️ How durable is it in long-term deployment?
🌱 Can sustainability claims stand up to scrutiny?

As the first solar lamp designated a core relief item, SunBell is designed to not only perform in the field, but to meet the expectations of modern, responsible procurement.

Is brighter light always better💡?

Not in real life. In humanitarian and emergency settings, overly bright light can cause eye strain, discomfort, and wasted energy. In this article we explain why BRIGHT designs solar lamps around comfort, colour temperature, and efficiency, not just high lumen numbers.
