Meet Michael!

Michael Toomey is a Project Engineer working with automation at Nel, Wallingford. As he puts it himself: “I work with robots, lasers, plasma fields and a bunch of other cool stuff.”

But automation is about more than technology. It helps keep people safer, improves quality and allows us to scale production in ways that would otherwise be impossible.

Kaylee Zhang is a Project Engineer working with automation at Nel in Wallingford. With a background in mechanical engineering and aerospace, she now helps introduce automated systems that allow us to scale how electrolysers are built.

“Twenty-four years says a lot.”

Meet Judith Manco. She started her career in Proton and has been part of the Wallingford team for 24 years, through its journey into Nel. Today, she coordinates lab testing across projects, making sure every test is scheduled, run and reviewed before moving from R&D into production

Over the years, she has seen the company grow from a small operation to delivering large scale systems.

After 24 years, she still calls it her second family.

A hydrogen plant with significantly less footprint. That is one of the main advantages of the pressurized alkaline concept 👣

As our CEO Håkon Volldal says in the film:
“You save on the capex side, because you need less equipment, smaller equipment, less space.”

At the same time, new technology reduces energy consumption in the stack compared to today’s electrolysers, bringing the cost of operating it down.

The new product will be launched on May 6.

At Glencore’s Nikkelverk facility in Kristiansand, two Nel electrolysers are supporting daily hydrogen production.

Hydrogen produced by Nel’s electrolyser at the facility is used in the refining and production of nickel, as well as in the production of hydrochloric acid, a process that has long been integral to operations at the site. High reliability is required in these processes.

As CEO Nils G. Gjelsten said:
“Nel's technology is robust, reliable, and long-tested. It's an easy choice for us due to its energy efficiency and our familiarity with its operation.”

Nickel is part of everyday life, from cutlery to mobile phones and laptops. Hydrogen plays a key role in making that possible.

At Climate Park Ramme in Denmark, Skovgaard Energy is building the world’s first dynamic green ammonia plant, powered by a electrolyser from Nel 💡

In this short video, CTO at Skovgaard, Pat Han. Han explains how the facility works and why they use Nel's electrolyser

“It’s the most well-proven technology and that’s important, that we get something we know will work.”

Unlike conventional ammonia plants that take days to ramp up, this one is fully electric and can adjust instantly to wind and solar power.

This is a glimpse into how industrial production is becoming smarter, cleaner, and more dynamic in the future 👏
