🛸 First Neuron installations for Statnett!

🇳🇴 It's not only in the World Cup Norway is flying high (or should we say rowing?) these days!
Last week, we announced our very first Dynamic Line Rating project with Statnett, and below you can see what it looked like when the first Neuron found its new home on one of their key transmission lines leading into Oslo.

🔮 Using our autonomous drone installation system, the first sensors were successfully deployed on Statnett's transmission grid in a matter of minutes. Another example of how our drone technology continues to move the industry forward!

👷‍♂️ A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this deployment a success. We can't wait to continue the rollout later this year.

🛸 Behind every successful autonomous drone installation our teams conduct lies countless hours of hard work, development, validation, and testing.

👷 Last week, our drone team was once again back at the test facilities, evaluating new features and capabilities as we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible for autonomous live-line sensor installations.

⚡ Expanding the possibilities for grid monitoring!

🛠️ At Heimdall Power, we are continuously working to make our technology compatible with more grid configurations and use cases around the world.

🔮 We’re therefore excited to share that we have now completed our first-ever Neuron installations on twisted pair conductors, marking another important technical milestone for our team.

📈 While still early days, this pilot is a great example of how we continue to develop and adapt our platform to meet the evolving needs of utilities and grid operators globally.

⚡️ “This is one of the most practical, cost-effective ways to make our grid stronger and more flexible.”

That’s how Daniel Gunderson, Vice President of Transmission and Operations Planning at Minnesota Power an ALLETE Company, describes their recent deployment of Heimdall Power’s Neuron sensors.

🇺🇸 A new article in MPR News highlights our latest collaboration with Minnesota Power, where 52 Neurons were installed across six of the utility’s most congested transmission lines around Duluth and along Lake Superior.

📈 The potential of this technology is already clear. As Priti R Patel from Great River Energy notes in the article, results from their deployment have shown up to 60% more capacity on certain transmission lines using Dynamic Line Rating.

🌟 It’s great to see Minnesota utilities leading the way in adopting cost-effective, practical solutions that strengthen the grid and unlock more capacity from existing infrastructure.

❄️ Powering through the storm!

🇺🇸 Last month, we deployed 31 Neurons for Entergy across three states in just five days—all by drone, all on live transmission lines. Louisiana gave us sunshine. Texas gave us ice. Arkansas gave us a full winter storm.

🙌 On January 27 in central Arkansas, the team managed to install 14 sensors in six hours despite snowdrifts and demanding conditions, achieving a new U.S. record for DLR sensors installed in a single day!

⚡️ As Clay Adams, Director of Asset Management Strategy at Entergy, puts it: “Even in challenging icy conditions, this project proves that we are capable of safely implementing advancements in technology without impacting our customers on an energized ever-expanding grid."

🇺🇸 We're proud to be partnering with Entergy on a multi-state Dynamic Line Rating deployment across Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas.

⚡️ Entergy serves around 3 million customers and is one of the largest utilities in North America. They're now using real-time data from our Neuron sensors to get a clear picture of how their transmission lines are actually performing.

🛸 The sensors were installed on energized lines using drones—no outages, no disruptions, even through challenging winter weather. We're very excited to be working with a utility this committed to grid modernization 🙌
