Meet Anmol Kandroo, our DevOps Manager, whose work ensures that our robots operate seamlessly across industries. Just like in his personal life, where he enjoys mountain biking, rock climbing, and skiing, he’s constantly taking on new challenges, pushing limits, and solving complex problems. ⛰️
🔹 What led you to wheel.me, and what has your journey been like so far?
"With a background in leading high-performing Platform & DevOps teams, I was drawn to wheel.me’s pioneering work in robotics and AI. Since joining, I’ve had the opportunity to work with brilliant minds and contribute to our software department’s goals. It’s exciting to see how our work transforms industries like automotive and manufacturing by making automation more accessible and scalable."
🔹 How does DevOps ensure wheel.me’s robots operate reliably?
"DevOps ensures reliability by building robust infrastructure and implementing advanced monitoring. We leverage AWS for scalability and reliability, allowing us to manage fleets of robots centrally and deploy seamless updates. By automating tasks and implementing real-time monitoring, we minimize downtime and maximize productivity. This enhances system reliability and supports the integration of AI technologies for smarter navigation and predictive maintenance."
🔹 What are some of the biggest technical challenges you tackle?
"Managing large-scale deployments while ensuring system uptime is a major challenge. Our remote updates require precise timing and coordination to avoid disruptions, and real-time monitoring is crucial to resolving issues. Additionally, integrating AI and robotics presents unique challenges, such as ensuring seamless communication between hardware and software. Overcoming these challenges involves continuous learning, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and leveraging the latest DevOps tools."

"It's their ability to transform any object into an autonomous mobile robot. This allows us to cater to a wide range of industries, from manufacturing to healthcare, by retrofitting existing processes without significant infrastructure changes. The integration of AI for object recognition and path planning adds another layer of sophistication, making our robots adaptable and efficient. Working with our robots is fascinating because it pushes the boundaries of automation and creates tangible impact on customers."

"While many might view DevOps as purely technical, it involves a lot of collaboration, communication, and problem-solving. It demands not just expertise in automation and infrastructure but also the ability to bridge gaps between different teams and stakeholders. This makes DevOps both challenging and rewarding, requiring continuous learning and adaptation."
