DNV Type Approval and Standards
Kolos' wire rope and chain slings are produced in accordance with the following DNV standards:
DNV-ST-E271 – 2.7-1 Offshore Containers
DNV-ST-E273 – 2.7-3 Portable Offshore Units

Wire Rope Slings
Kolos manufactures wire rope slings in various configurations to meet different lifting needs, both Topside and Subsea:
1, 2, 3, and 4 Leg Lifting Sets: These configurations may include forerunners and are designed for versatile lifting operations.
Capacity: The slings are capable of handling loads with a maximum gross mass ranging from 0 to hundreds of tons.
Wire Diameter: The wire ropes are available in sizes ranging from 2mm to 86mm as standard, larger by request.
Chain Slings for Offshore Containers
Kolos' chain slings are specifically engineered for offshore container applications, offering enhanced safety and reliability:
Standards Compliance: These slings are produced according to DNV 2.7-1, EN 818-2, and EN 12079-2 standards.
Type Approval: The chain slings are type approved in accordance with
DNV 2.7-1.
Safety Factor: A safety factor of 4:1 is maintained, ensuring robust performance under extreme conditions.
Heat Treatment: Special heat treatment processes are employed to increase the toughness of the chains.
Crack Detection: Each sling undergoes rigorous crack detection testing to ensure structural integrity.
Maintenance and Inspection
Kolos places a strong emphasis on the maintenance and inspection of its products to ensure continued safety and functionality:
Visual Inspection: A visual inspection is required every 12 months.
Non-Destructive Examination (NDE): A comprehensive NDE control is required every 48 months in accordance with DNV 2.7-1 standards.
Additional Services: Kolos offers cleaning, non-destructive testing (NDT), and painting services to maintain the optimal condition of the slings.
