Have you tried the new SOLAS forms in Onix Work yet? ✨

At the beginning of the year, a new SOLAS regulation for lifting appliances from the International Maritime Organization came into force. This regulation introduced requirements for the construction, testing, inspection, maintenance and documentation of lifting appliances onboard vessels.

Inspections on lifting appliances including cranes, equipment and steal ropes must now be documented according to SOLAS requirements.

This is easy with Onix. You can now create a SOLAS inspection job in Onix Work or Onix Inspect, complete an inspection according to the required steps, and automatically generate a digital inspection document that supports SOLAS requirements.

2026 is all yellowwww 🟨

In Norway, all lifting equipment must be marked with the date of its last inspection. This would ideally be with a label or QR code.

If it’s not possible to attach a label with required information including the name of the Enterprise of Competence and the body that certified it, then a color marking is permissible.

This color marking must correspond to the color of the year in which the equipment was inspected. It’s an easy way for equipment owners, users and inspectors to know when equipment is safe use.

There are four colors on rotation (green, blue, red and yellow) and this year’s color is yellow.

A color marking is considered the bare minimum, so those wanting better control should consider tagging lifting equipment with QR, RFID or NFC tags. Simply scan the tag for instant access to critical equipment information including its history, certificates and user manuals that improves control and contributes to a strong safety culture.

Long answer 👉 by processing equipment orders through an ERP with an Onix Work integration:

1️⃣ Orders and item numbers are created in Certex’s ERP.

2️⃣ Data is automatically transferred to Onix Work.

3️⃣ Pickers in the warehouse receive orders and use Onix Pick & Pack to prepare them.

4️⃣ Equipment is registered in Onix Work automatically using serial numbers or by scanning RFID tags.

5️⃣ The order is completed and the documentation department receives the picking lists. They ensure the correct documentation is attached to the equipment in Onix Work.

6️⃣ The order is completed and the documents are delivered instantly to customers.
Everything customers need is available in their Onix Work account (if they have it) or via Onix Express.
