Last week we tested our tool`s mechanical integrity against 10,000 psi, or 689 bars pressure at Archers facility at Karmøy.

When assembling the tool, blue paper was installed at strategic places inside the tool such to easier identify any leak as this would result in a darker paper.

The tool assembly (excluding electronics) was tested using a lubricator pressurized with water.

The result; no leak (as shown in one of the pictures post test)! 😀

This is a pressure bulkhead, a great piece of engineering and a solid portion of manufacturing competence and skills. The inserts are electrical feedthroughs that transfer electrical signals and power through the unit.

Combined, the bulkhead and the installed electrical feedthroughs are the barrier that protects the internal electronics in the tool from being flooded by high pressure well fluid.

We have now pressure tested this assembly to 10,000 psi, or 689 bars for more than 12 hours!

On our track towards an offshore pilot, we are performing a series of high-pressure function tests of critical assemblies used in our tool.

We have recently successfully function tested our rotate motor assembly operating in a pressurized environment of 10,000 psi, or 689 bars. This assembly is a fantastic piece of engineering important for us to perform high resolution measurements in wells.

To put things in perspective, 10,000 psi equals the weight of a water column of 6,890 meters, or the weight of a cement column of 2,870 meters.

An important topic this year is how the norwegian petroleum industry can contribute with new knowledge and technology to increase safety in supply, reduce emissions of climate gases, and create value for companies and the society.
